Ho Iam getting back onto carp fishing after a 15 yr break and need a bedchair. Can anyone recommend one that won't break the bank. Have looked at the sonik sk tek and looks pretty reasonable. Any information would be greatly appreciated

It's important that you try some out in a tackle shop, I had my mind set on an Avid one, went to try it out at a local tackle shop and it was really uncomfy. After trying several out, came away with a Trakker one. But what's good for one guy may not necessarily work for you.

Thanks for the reply Fred. Unfortunately I can't try one out as I live in a very remote area and there are no tackle shops that sell carp gear near me.

That's a bit tricky then, you'll probably get loads of different answers and you wished you'd never asked!!
For me, the Trakker one had been really good, had it a few years now without any issues. I bought my youngest son an Avid Ascent one last year, which was quite good, not quite as comfy as my Trakker and not quite as good quality, but OK nevertheless for a cheapish bedchair.

I'm in a similar position to you, not quite as long a break but need to sort my gear, I opted for the solar ch08, it's the cheaper version of the sp c-tech, it's a bit heavy but thats the only negative I've got on it, it's firm and supportive if thats what you're after, I'm a bit of a lump and haven't had any sag sitting on it.

depends if you like a Firm bed or a soft bed ?
people with dodgy backs tend to sleep on their backs and want a firm bed I fall in that category
and have owned and used god knows how many beds since the 60s and my current bed is one of the best I have ever owned its a Solar CH08

From comments I have heard on the bank, via forums, and my own experiences with a Sonik SK-tec recliner chair, the extending legs are not good, they go back in with any weight on them.
In December 2021 I bought a Solar Undercover plain green bedchair and have no problems with it.
It is not the most expensive bedchair, either on the market or in the Solar range. It's comfortable for me sleeping face down or on my side, and can be left with my RH 4 Season sleeping bag and Ultimate fleece cover when it's folded down.
The legs extend by about 100mm, 10cm.
I'm actually fishing right now and struggle with links on my phone, but here is the Solar specs:

Ive got the Trakker RLX super light. It's good because the center section is rope instead of elastic so you can adjust the sag..and it's light obviously! It's not expensive either

Trakker RLX supalight is great if you can go to £170?
I have a cheap Amazon self inflating mattress on it (which stays on with the bag when folded) and it's super comfy, I honestly sleep better on it than I do at home.
