I have 2 x Shimano Baitrunner ST RB 10000 reels. How much in metres do I need of fishing line to fill them reels? I'm looking at trying the Daiwa Sensor line as the shimano technium line I used to use doesn't seem to be sold anymore.

The line capacity is usually written on the spool. giving you an indication of how much line/breaking strain your spool can take. But if the spool is completely empty, you need to put some backing line on first.
In terms of how much line to buy, just get a bulk spool of sensor, it's only about a tenner for 1000yds. It's what I use, cheap as chips and never let me down.

You should half fill your spools with old line and then add two turns of insulation tape, then you have reduced the amount of new line needed.

You will get 2 reels from 1 spool of 15 even if you stripped the lot off.

As post 10, but also its a visual reminder if you are fishing long or if you have lost some line and it needs replacing.
Maybe not so visual with a dark line but it works well with a semi opaque line that I prefer.

Oh I always thought you strip the whole lot and change for new line every season.
So I don't need a whole reel of new line? The new line isn't to be attached to the old line? Do I leave the same old line with tape around it on forever and just add new halfway through each year?

Yes
I don't use tape, just tie new line onto the old. When the new line is old take it off until you find the knot and replace it with new again.
It's worked for me for years without problem but I think next time I will give this tape idea a go.

I don't change my line every season, can't be bothered to tell you the truth. That said, with my 2 lads fishing as well, and both totally incapable of doing anything for themselves, I'd have too many reels to do. Think we've got 7 sets of 3 rods/reels between us, I'd spend all my spare time loading spools. I tend to load them as and when needed - if the spool is looking a bit empty or if the line looks manky. To tell you the truth, my line never really goes manky on my spools, I keep my rods set up and in a cupboard in the dark out of sunlight, seems to do the trick.

Once the line of tape goes over the old line backing then it stays like that and the spool depth is effectively reduced by 50% so you just treat it like a shallower spool.
