Will there be a northern angling show next year?
I'm aware the venue "Event City" is not available however are there plans to stage another angling show "up North"?

seen a few short videos been released advertising it, no exhibitor list yet so I'll definitely wait before purchasing a ticket,infact I'll pay on the door this time if I go

I think the floor plan is released tomorrow. In the current economic climate I wonder how many of the big names will decide that attending so many big shows in a season isn't feasible anymore. Given the hotel costs and food costs and transportation costs etc.
Big stands cost big money. Where as smaller shell stands for hobby/home/smaller businesses are probably more affordable. Maybe not much more than a pasting table, some posters and a couple of staff.

I remember Graeme of Dymag telling me that his tiny little stand at the Carp Society show cost him over 2k! That was about seven years ago.

Big gamble for them to book trade stands in the current climate I'd say, big gamble on getting the footfall through the door especially by the time 2 or 3 shows have been on in quite close procession , buy carp gear or pay bills is probably a decision for quite a lot of people atm or for anyone whatever their hobby.

Absolutely and it's not just the cost of the stand, which isn't cheap. There's obviously the investment in producing the stock for it. You can't just use existing stock and then not for fill shops orders. So a lot of it is extra production.
Then factor in the room costs. I think when I looked into it a while back the room was going to cost me about £250 for the weekend. Plus food and drink. Now imagine that times ten or twenty staff plus when you look at the exhibitor car park it's full of hire vans. What's two or three of those cost for third,fri,sat,sun and Monday.
I could see this coming recession seeing off a few of the shows. Which is a shame cos I really enjoy them. But then saying that instead of loads of shows I think I'd prefer one monster show at the NEC that every manufacturer could attend as it was the only show of the year. Like a UK zwolle with 30k people a day. Make a real once a year event of it.

this has to be the last throw of the dice for the Northern show, the last one was a disaster by all accounts, organisers might say different but from a punters view it was terrible....making it a carp only show probably won't affect the footfall too much as I don't think there was enough of match orientated stands prior to covid.

Totally agree I understand all the costs involved I'e seen it first hand when I helped out on a few stands at trade shows years ago a few times
I agree a Zwolle/Den Bosch show once a year slap bang in the Midlands would be the one, last time I went to Zwolle was pre covid by a few years it's always a well attended show partly I believe because they are not flooded with several small shows all in quick procession.
After visiting a show on that scale the ones in the UK really dont compare for me quite a few of the stands at UK shows are not of interest to me so makes them even less appealing to visit. Rising costs in all aspects will be the killer.
I looked last month at going over to the show at Den Bosch not having been in a while and as much as I like that show prices as a visitor from the UK are becoming silly, Flying over limits what you can bring back so for me it would become a tiring expensive jolly for a day out, to take the car/van over be it Tunnel or Ferry your looking at 2 to 3 hundred quid add, fuel, tolls, sleeping arrangements, food and a bit of spending money and your not far short of a grand or more if you want a bigger money item, hell your nearly in the ball park of some new KORDA RODS

I never understood why you would waste a weekends fishing just when the weather starts improving to go to a carp show. And pay for the privilege!
That said, others clearly enjoy them so it would be a shame for them all to go bust. Maybe one big show would be more viable. If they did it in London it would also give you northerners a chance to witness civilisation

it's a shame that korda don't feel the need to travel north for the show,last years was understandable as the show was a whole was pants. much better this year but I still think I'll swerve it...DNA do weekend deals instead.

Fox have not done it for years
DNA & BAF have pulled out of all shows since covid and instead run the usual deal they do at the shows on their website for a limited time - savvy cost saving on their part.
Don't think JB ever did a NAS show. (would have been a personal highlight for me)
Surprised about Korda and Aqua - Korda always did well out of them by all accounts and you would think Aqua would have some loyalty to the region it comes from.

Considering the price of a lot of ingredients and the need to buy some of them in kilo amounts for instance. Are many people going to take a punt? Where as they might order once they've seen the stuff in the flesh.
No proper carp baits either. Or shimano. Or greys. Are sonik there?

I think you're right to some degree, especially for the shops. The shows though, I think a lot of people go for the entertainment side of things, seeing things on display and talking to the big names. One thing Amazon can't do (yet😂

Agreed, internet shopping can be super handy, but not at the this cost. I miss shops and more importantly the ability to see, touch, feel products before purchase. I like the occasional fishing show for that reason.
Someone mentioned a big show similar to zwolle, this sounds like a good idea, if multiple shows are going to out compete each other.

The amount of times I have been to a show and within the month a local tackle shop gets a large purchase from me after seeing or trying something at the show, or I buy a few bits and pieces at the show.
Sleeping bags, Bedchairs, pods, rods, line, bait and deals on gas canisters are all things I've bought. Come to that even the Lee Valley Fisheries stall was interesting talking to the staff.
I miss 5Lakes, both working on stands and as a punter, although buying a coffee at the bar was a 'No no'.
It's a shame when these things get cancelled, both long term and last minute.

I saw a video of it on facetube yesterday and it looked cramped with very little aisle room. Also another guy complaining that it was £10 to park his car.
I was really hoping this show would get back to its pre-covid best but im not convinced this venue is the long term answer.
Another reason to have a big show at the NEC again instead.

I got to the venue at 8am this morning to be told there's no car parking mate....then across the road some enterprising local scallys had erected signs at the next turn off for car parking.
After finding out the cheeky monkeys were charging £10 to park on the street I gave that a swerve and parked one street down for free.
Walking into the show behind 2 or three people reeking of ganja I arrived at the doors.
Very small show
No bargains to be had
Nothing new
Too dark inside so you couldn't see what was on display properly.
I was in...walked round the show twice and was home within the hour.
If your thinking of going please don't...go fishing instead.

I concur with most of this. Parking wasn't great at all.
Show was small but most of the major players were there. The Nash stand was impressive and they had the full team there. Jules was a lovely fella to talk too and very helpful as was most “well known” anglers.
Nothing really new (apart from new solar bivvy) which looks very good. Also not many bargains to be had, some but not many.
Good to see the new RT7 bait boat and Korda net in the flesh, that net is superb,!!
