I'm still using an ACE tackle spool stripper which just plugs into a hand held gun drill.

I use my power drill with a plastic bottle fixed on a 6mm threaded rod. If you are careful you can do multiple reels at the same time, I've done three at the same time on several occasions, set them up on the butt section of rods leaned up against a wall with the line through the butt ring about 6 to 8 feet from the drill, grab hold of the line with one hand, drill in the other and guide the lines onto the bottle.
Alternatively if you don't have a drill, just wrap your line around distance sticks, remove the sticks and gather up the line, much quicker than by hand.

Wrap sticks in garden, know how much you have taken off as well.then take to tackle shop to recycle.

Berkely line stripper. Had mine for years. If you're only using it once a year reverse the battery or take it out when not in use.

Not sure if its already been mentioned but i have just seen via cam's link that carp spirit are doing a line stripper to go in a drill for £8 looks very similar to the ace one

I have never used a Berkley line stripper, but the fastest method I have used is as mentioned earlier is a bolt through the lid of a 500ml bottle with a washer either side, tightened down with a nut and fitted into the chuck of a drill and the reel on the butt section of the rod Ideally the bottle needs to be the type with a "Saddle" in the middle like a Coke bottle.. Its far faster than using a Stanley knife to cut through it which has been my method for years up to about 3 years ago.
With the diameter of a spool a lot less diameter of a coke bottle with maybe 200 to 300 turns of line on it and the drill going at 2000 - 3000 RPM, it takes seconds to strip it.
Once you have made a bottle top with a hole in and mounted the bolt in it, you never have to do it again as usually all bottle tops are a universal thread, so you can get rid of the line on just the bottle part and just get another bottle.

Does anyone take off to put back on so you're spooling the front section of the line and using what was the back section of the line?
Distance sticks are ideal as you can measure how much you remove and waste less line as you only load how much you require.

Remove the spool then hold it above yer head, pull the line down and the weight of the departing line it will almost strip itself.

Yes..and also wind it onto used plastic spools to use ether as backing or for other purposes.
Pure wastefulness discarding nylon that's only a few years old and has spent 99% of that time in a dark holdall.

I bought the carp spirit one on your recommendation - you are right it is brilliant. I normally use distance sticks stuck in the lawn. For all 3 reels that took 1/2 an hour. Carp Spirit stripper less than 10mins and no effort.
My carp spirit one from total fishing is similar to the berkley one I.e it runs on 4 AA batteries NOT a drill
