Seen the latest Gardner braid has got good reviews, going to spool up braid this year, Is this one of the best to get (for fishing not spodding/markering)

PowerPro, still the best, never been bettered.
Most people don't realise that there's only a small number of companies worldwide that manufacture these lines (none of them are angling related), hence when you think you're getting something new or different from a tackle company, it's the same line you're getting from everyone else, but with their packaging and bullsh!t blurb affixed to it. Makes me laugh when people actually believe that Gardner, Fox, Cringe Monkey, etc all 'make' their own lines...

Would you say even those so called Chinese braids I heard about ,all from same manufacturers?

Is power pro made by themselves then ? Use Gardner hydro sink and it's certainly different to a lot on the market

Shimano own it. It's also neutral-ish buoyancy
Sufix 832 (rapala) is a good braid, will sink more readily than PP and is tough as old boots

Not exactly an accurate picture to paint.
Braid, or braiding, is in itself a process, of which there is infinite variables, the same with what you actually braid. and material science is always improving....
Essentially a handful of really really good manufacturers exist, and each tackle company will consult and work with them to produce a line that has the behavioural attributes needed.
Frankly, different braids do different jobs, you'll have a s*** day if you spod the entire time with a dense sinking higher diameter braid, and you'll never sink a buoyant low diameter distance line. both different items that require different qualities.
All the braids I've come across, from reputable angling brands, have for the most part been incredibly different.
To say powerpro has never been bettered I think is misleading, normal powerpro is a 4 strand spectra braid.
However for a while they produced power pro 8 strand which was much smoother, and currently offer eleven different braids in the US alone without counting Europe.
As a general allrounder, powerpro isn't bad, but then personal preference then plays a part.
certainly, there is no "best" braid just like there is no best bait or hook or rod.

If only people realized 90% of our tackle is from China. One of the reasons all companies are struggling to get new stock in.
It would be interesting to go to all the major manufacturers and see how much is British European or from the far east.
Also get them to admit how much they produce. Some people would be in for huge shocks on there favourite brands.

Just get the Hydro Sink in 22lb, the new 'Noir' one is supposed to sink even better but not personally used it so can't say. For spodding/markering get the Daiwa J Braid x 8, same as the Korda stuff and doesn't need constantly wetting like Whiplash etc. but you can get it in the same colour as the Korda (Chartreuse I think they call it) if you think it may keep the flying rats at bay.

For reference Korda Spod/Marker Braid is 0.16 20lb and you can get exactly the the same in the J Braid, or go a bit heavier, say the 29lb 0.20. If you go with the 0.16 you'd best fish that with a leader, I just use some 50lb whiplash.
With the the fishing rods either use leadcore, unleaded or fluoro leaders. With lead/unleaded they only need to be about a metre long, you can go longer with the fluoro if you want. I personally always have it so the leader knot is lakeside of the tip ring when casting so usually no longer than 5ft. You won't need an actual shock leader with the Gardner Hydro Sink

Fox is brilliant, unless you want it to sink
Gardner is brilliant, unless you don't want it to fray
Korda is brilliant, unless you don't want it to turn white
if you're happy to fish tight, buy the Daiwa J braid - I doubt it will be bettered

The new gardner noir hydro sink is different to the original, it doesn't fray and sinks better. It has added fluorocarbon fibres to aid sinking but behaves like a braid, casts lovely and sinks better than standard mono. It is actually more grey than black as well.

I've used the Noir and it is a very nice braid, sinks very well, holds it colour ok, eventually goes a dark grey which is fine... Casts ok for thick sinking braid, better than the Korda for casting the 20lb version anyway.. Think the Korda comes out on top for abrasion resistance but only slightly... I've tried power pro and didn't rate it at all, and faded very quickly.. I'm sticking with the Korda and the Noir, Korda for boat work noir for casting upto 140 with no shock leader...

In that point, I've seen fish spook off h block markers with normal line on, and when changed to thick cord they loved it, even rubbed on it and the float would Bob away like mad, Anyway I digress lol

I'm looking for a braided mainline that will be able (at times) to cast 100-130yrds on the fishing rods (spod/marker all sorted with Daiwa J Braid) - will the Gardener Sink Noir be suitable for that?

I think you only need to camouflage the last 50-60m of faded braid. I use colour-fast wide nib felt tip pens.
