I am after a new rod pod, looking for one that is quite low to the ground. Any recommendations appreciated, have a budget of about £150. Thanks

I did have a look at the solar ground pod looks very good. Do you own one? I have shimano ultegra 14000 reels will these fit nicely on the pod or will they be touching?

Yeah sadly the reel handles will touch that's what I found when I used it with 5500 size ultegra that's why I sold mine the Sonik Vader x pod has wider buzzbars

Stainless for me as well.
I've got 2 pods: a first edition solar globetrotter and a matrix patriot.
Had 2y ago a alu pod from avid and I prefer the stability of the stainless versions much more

And stainless for me as well. I own two stainless pods a jag 316 and an original solar sod pod. I still use my original sod pod now and again and could never part with it. Nice and simple and has stood the test of time.
Solar Sod Pod with leg extensions and tri-posts on hard ground it weighs a ton but totally stable.
Soft ground a Defiant MPS stainless pod as I can push all six bank sticks in making it rock solid.

I have a nash 2 rod knx thing that looks like the vader for when i go on my bike with dwarf setup
Also my 3 rod lowered Defiant in stainless.
Whilst I like the weight saving of the little black pod its way too small to be stable. And thats using Dwarf rods. It can tip just lifting a rod up. Whereas the defiant wins even if you fall on it.

If you can find a goodun the fox quattro pod is awesome.
Sits low and totally solid pod.
The vader x is very similar but a bit lighter also looks a lot like the quattro pod.

over the past 55 years carp fishing I have almost count of the pods I have owned from the cheapest probably around £16 to the dearest over 600 Euro !
and while I completely agree light pods are not as stable as heavy stainless
it does not matter really ??..............as 2 bivvy pegs on the lightest pod sorts it its no biggie is it ? and on a wooden platform 2 large screw in cup hooks and a bit of para cord

and my River pod

I love a pod and have owned at least one since using the Gardener one in the 80's (monkey climber anyone?).
With so much choice nowadays .... Its a matter of finding the balance between quality, weight, size and aesthetics/looks. Form over function is a real risk, even with the premium brands and ive fallen foul a couple times.
Jag Pro-Lite (very lightweight, too small and poor stability)
N-Brice Carbon (looks great but too fiddly)
but im guessing second hand prices will still put these out of budget anyway.
The Fox Quattro is the most stable of pods ive owned, but then it is bigger and quite heavy. Very good pod though
The Fox Trek Pod is almost as stable and is quite a bit smaller & lighter and imo the best value pod ive ever owned (i was so impressed i have 2 in the loft).
Both of these can be picked up second hand easily within £150 budget.
I dislike stainless myself. I had an original Defiant MPS Trident in stainless which is my preferred design of all the pods, bomb proof and rock solid but stainless looks dated to me nowadays, but understand their appeal in terms of longevity.
Titanium (Defiant MPS Panther Titanium is my current pod) offers all the reliability stainless does but less bright and lighter in weight.
For me nothing beats black or carbon aesthetically and why i have always regretted selling my original Defiant MPS Carbon Trident pod. It struck the perfect balance of weight, stability and aesthetics ... and I have always wanted another .... so was very pleased when Defiant bought a version back recently and have one on order.
Less than £150 and if you can live with stainless i would try and find a second hand Defiant MPS Trident or if really lucky may find a Panther Titanium but may need to add a few more pennies or if you want to spend less then i would go for a Fox Quattro or Fox Trek

I've always used Defiant MPS pods. You won't go wrong. The one in the classifieds (profile: Blackfield) will be ideal
Solar P1 rod pod for me.

I've not really been looking at pods this year, but if I was in the market with your sort of budget, I'd probably be looking at a good second hand MPS Trident or something like a Sabre Terrain.
