I've recently got the txi-d's. V happy with them but would like some advice from users for settings during bad weather to stop the constant false alarms from heavy rain.

Have you got the sensitivity turned up max or something? I'm sat by a Trent weir pool now in p*ssing rain and haven't had a single false bleep. I've got sensitivity just under halfway and that's still been plenty enough to register knocks from Roach and tiny Barbel that hung themselves.

You need to think about more than just twiddling dials, it's all about the whole setup and not just the settings on the alarm head . As I've always said, delkims are by far the best on the market IF you know how to use them. The "can't stop wind bleeps" brigade don't.

How could you not know how to use the txi it had a dial and and toggle for +and -The new txi-d might be a bit more of a faff but I hear once set up they are easy enough too

Don't know Tony but many seem to not know how to use them properly ,hence all the "they are crap because you can't stop wind bleeps" nonsense that's constantly been said over the years

Agreed
they are the most adjustable Alarms you can get ! and will cover any situation but you need to learn how to adjust them its not hard some of them dont even know how to adjust he brightness of the leds for day or night use because they dont read the manual

Tbh Gerry I've never read the manual either. It's going back to the days of antenna buzzers , and then things like bitech vipers , understanding how to set your rods and bobbins etc up so get the best from the alarm ,when they didn't have all the adjustment the modern alarms have.

Only thing Delks are missing are the drop back differential function. Then they would be the perfect alarm for me, not sure this could ever be achieved though with the way the alarms are set up with the vibration sensing.

Interesting thoughts, I don't currently have alarms that have the function but being almost blind without my glasses I think I would find it a useful function at night. I can also see the advantage when using zigs.

I always thought that untill i got an alarm with drop back differentiation.
I generally fish with a tight clutch. So just fishing a couple of beeps untill the line pulls up tight. You can tell a liner instantly when you get a "beep boop" instead of a "beep beep"
Thats how i fish, and i find it invaluable now.
Maybe every person i know has their delkim settings wrong, but they seem to get liners that sound like full blown runs?

That's the good thing about the TXID's, you can turn down the beep speed so they give you a sensible sound, and you can tell straight away how fast the run is.

They are extremely sensitive but i just can't stop them false alarming with rain even on sensitivity setting 1...
Will use a new set of ATT's next time and if okay will probably move the Delk's on as I just can't do with the false alarming in the rain, wind is not an issue, it's just the rain setting them off. Probably move to Nash R3's.
.. lol.. only used them a couple of times....

Mine were out in torrential rain yesterday, and a few weeks back. No false bleeps from rain at all. Occasionally went off when the wind blew a bit of reed into the lines, but id expect that to set them off. You just need to learn to set them up properly. Are you using the response dial on the front?

This last weekends onslaught of constant false alarming, the previous weekends lost fish due to no indication from the alarms......
TBH, I thought going the Delkim way was the smart choice but...... mmmmmm....
yep, they work well with screamimg takes and in still conditions they let you know of fish in the area.... after that....

I have been out in extreme wind/ rain the lot with the new delkims and not had a problem at all. People just don't no how to set them up and this clearly proves it. I had r3s before these and I couldn't stand them they was worse for wind and rain bleeps I really didn't like them.

I have the r3's at the moment and agree with you. They are ok for what they are but I miss the sensitivity options of delks. When I can afford to do so I will be upgrading to the new delks or the Fox RX alarms.

FFS it clearly shows someone banging the rod to simulate hail stones and how its easily adjusted so it dont affect it

I am pretty certain that the 'do not disturb' function is for storms, it defaults back to 'off' after 10 or 15 minutes. But having said that, I own TXI-D's and I've never had an issue with false bleeps, you just turn down the response a bit.

I've just returned from a 48Hr session over the weekend using my new TXI D's and not having really used them before, they got seriously tested in some exceptionally torrential rainfall and they didn't miss a beat. Massively impressed with them apart from not being able to adjust the night light brightness, a big leap forward over the TXI Plus for me.

Any particular reason for adjusting night time illumination? I've toned down the night time run illumination to save me from being blinded, but just the night time seems adequate to see where your putting your rod down on.

Same for me, this weekend absolutely p**sed down and I didn't get a single rain beep from my trusty TXI plus. Same goes for the big SW gusts. Just a shame the fish didn't read the rule book and stayed on the back of it!

I wasn't referring to the bleep/run brightness, yes that is bright but can be adjusted. I am talking about the night LED which cannot be changed. For me it's very faint and nowhere near as bright as my previous TXi Plus, but then again they were white LED's and my new D's are green.

As delk colours go blue is the brightest, then white, the green aren't actually that bright at all.

That's not my experience mate. I have TXI-D's in Red, Green and Blue and the green is the brightest, followed by the blue, and the red are quite dull in comparison. White are by far the brightest.

You just need to learn how to use the bleep speed and then adjust the response dial. Personal I like the bleep speed on 6 but have the response very low, if it's windy and raining, I I reduce the bleep speed and response.
You don't become an expert by just reading the manual, but it helps to know how to chance the settings if needed to. But you do need to experience different situations and adjust the settings as the happen, once you have do this a few times you start to understand where to have the setting depending on the situation. If your getting false bleeps reduced the response, if your getting false bleeps that sound like a run, reduce the bleep speed, as well as the response.

I'm just going on comparing my mates green set to the old blue ones and current white set I have. 100% the blues were the brightest of the lot. I'm guessing the txi d still use the same LEDs?

I have 1 of each Green Blue Red and purple/pink lol
NO question Green is definitely the brightest
followed by Blue Purple and Red
the White that I dont have is silly blinding bright
I always alter the brightness levels in the daytime so I can see them in sunshine
BUT at night if left on the day setting its far to bright for me blinds me but I dont use lights much at night preferring to use my natural night vision if I do use a light its normally a red one
so if they have left this option out on the new delks I think its a huge mistake

You can set the LED brightness on day and night mode separately, as well as ‘stealth mode' option which gives you the night lights (and any indicators plugged in will light up), but no LED activation on a run.

I dont bother switching to the night time mode. I know where my rods are in the dark :-) so not bothered about the faint glow. And when (if) I get a run, everything is illuminated perfectly anyway. I just adjust LED brightness to 1 for night and then up the brightness of LEDS again in the morning. Takes less than 10 seconds per alarm to do.

To be fair I just leave mine with the nightlights on all the time now. I have set the beep speed quite slow and don't change any settings anymore.

That's a bit long winded though, when you can just setup night mode and switch LED brightness with a single button press instead of adjusting every morning and evening
