Probs been asked before but can't find anything.....
Does anyone use these as standard carp reels? I'm looking for something with a silly retrieve and these seem to fit the bill. Are they reasonably usable?
Struggling to find spare spools in the UK. Does anyone know if they take the standard Emblem S35 SCW 5000C QD spools?
Was thinking about converting the old Emblem Spod but just seen these.

I don't know about these, but the older emblem Pro was the same as the spod bar the spools, might be an option for you

Not a bad call mate. Assume they'll take the emblem spod spools which are cheap as chips too.

Do you have them mate? I see there's a couple of BB's and ~20g in it.
Is the drag OK as is or do they need work?
I think they have the old shark tooth line clips so need replacing?

I had the Emblem Pro as a Spod reel before the Spod came out. Retired it as got 2 Spods for the Spod and marker rods. Last year the Pro came out of retirement and I fitted I new line clip from South Coast Customs, now Reel King. This is now on my 13ft Spomb rod and has brought back to me how good a reel they are. I have speed caps on so the drag is either on or off but as they are but I've never heard of anyone having problems

I had one for sea fishing and didn't get on with the high gearing
Was probably 4 years ish before I got the emblem spod. It didn't feel much different to me but I'd bought the pro used off a sea angler and the spod new
Seem a good option if you want that high retrieve rate

Cheers guys. I agree it's a good option. The Pro's go for about a ton each 2nd hand so by the time I've done the clips/drags they'll cost the same as the new ones. Decision, decisions.

Emblem Pro is much less of a mouthful and they haven't shot up in price like most other older Daiwas seem to have done.

I asked the question of this as a Spod reel a few weeks ago and got no responses, looks a tidy reel as well so I'm surprised there doesn't appear to be many about....

While the old version is available, with its proven pedigree, the shiny new one isn't a very compelling purchase is it
I'd probably go with the standard emblem 35 if I needed a new one, that ratio must be a nightmare with a weed rake, the old spod reel struggles as it is

True Ian, mine was getting a bit tired to say the least but I spent an hour part stripping it, cleaning and re-greasing and it's as good as new.....they're like sherman tanks!
