Hi chaps what's peoples thoughts and reasons on attaching the deeper chirp to the boat.
On an arm directly behind the boat or on an arm off the rear side?

I have mine to the rear of the boat, off to the side will make the boat veer to 1 side. It has been mentioned that bubbles in the water from the props/jets can interfere with the signal but I never have the motors running that fast when mapping for it to be a problem

The store bought attachment arms can have drawbacks. I have a waverunner shuttle, the side mount drastically impacts the handling of the boat and the rear mount means you can't drop a rig whilst the deeper is mounted as it generally gets tangled (speaking from experience).
Whilst not quite Heath Robinson, this fella found an answer that suits me.

This way you can accurately map a swim and then drop the rig and bait on to a predetermined feature.
There are probably better solutions but it works for me.

My issue, at least for the Deeper Pro+, is not how to attach (a number of options are available, depending on boat), but the limited range you can maintain WiFi connection.. 60-80 yds in my experience).
Understand a WiFi extender can address this, but this seems to present another level of on-bank complexity

Deeper Chirp is the same.
Use mine with iPhone and get 70-80 yards max. Also looses signal as you turn the boat and loose line of sight.

Yep, had this too, pita. The range extender does work, not to complex either, just a router and power source, in my case a 9v powerbank.

I don't no what your doing bud but I've had a deeper chirp since it came out, I've also got the waverunner shuttle I use it mounted on the back with a arm (done properly) I've never ever had it tangle even once or any of my friends have it happen either all with Deeper's on arms at the back of the boat. I always drop my rigs with the deeper on the back and I'm two years it hasn't happened once in fact your the first person I've ever heard say that

I use my on a tripod I have the iPhone 12 pro max and can get about 100 yards on it with the chirp if the phone is on the tripod at chest height, any lower and it struggles with signal

Could well just be me being an idiot, wouldn't be the first time. Although I did try all manner of things to sort it. I'll revisit it next time I'm forced to use the bait boat.

With my finger, I hold the rod while controlling the boat left handed as I like to still feel for a drop. Its how I did it prior to getting the deeper so I saw no reason to change, but that could be causing it as I don't have a ton of control of the rod when I do this.
I assume you would recommend a control arm of some sort, any suggestions?
Must admit I feel a bit daft sending the boat out looking like a type 45. So I will definately be digging out my rear mount next time.

Only reason I asked bud is almost all of them are generic and will work on all boats but with the pointed bit in the middle of the boat at the back I found someone on eBay making ones to fit around that only reason I asked bud, most are all the same and will work just look on eBay mate but I will say attaching your deeper to your boat via some line to the handle is important just incase it comes off

I always make sure my line is slightly slack coming off the reel, then when I get to the spot I'm fishing then picking up the rod to cause a tighter line, maybe with the slightly slack line while driving out is the reason I'm not getting any problems with mine

Just a heads up. There are generaic arms but the one I bought held the DC at the wrong angle on my RT4, it was too long. I worked with the guy on E-bay to make one that fits the RT4 well. The attachment pad was also the worng size for the RT4 so we had to make it smaller too. Luckily it seems there are boat specific ones now so not a problem.

I've got a Lowrance chirp hook4 built into the boat but it doesn't work in under 5ft of water!
Deeper Chirp is spot on!

If you've got 'normal' hoppers a central mount is fine - make sure the arm has plenty of adjustment as you ideally want the deeper sitting upright as its being pulled through the water and not dragged at an angle (this maximises reception)
I've got an aftermarket wifi extender however only use it in harsh conditions / over 100yds - tablet on a tripod and a clear line of site is usually more than sufficient - just make sure that the deeper itself is fully charged / topped up as battery depletion can affect range . .
As for tangles with a central or offset deeper arm - NEVER EVER had one, and that includes fishing clipped up on a tight line and reversing when not quite spot on etc - just use a decent leader / tubing and a small captive backlead above the leader . . .keeps everything out of the way of the props as well etc
