Has anyone had any experience of the
Arktis 210 mammoth jackets?
It says made in the uk and by ex military so technically could be perfect for on the bank use?
They popped up as an advert on my google page

They look good as a mid layer and very similar to the buffalo shirts.
Not seen one in the flesh though.

I have one and rate it alot,very warm,comfy and well made.The material is very good,I have walked through brambles and climbed trees and it still looks like new.Gets a massive

Have 2 and even got my misses one for walking the dog. Fantastic bit of kit, warmest jacket I've owned, so much so my snugpaks got sold. Very well made, and personally I prefer the fleeced lining on it.

Will have a look at the Hearn vid
It's the fleece lining I was drawn to
I have a trakker zip up but the pile is on the outside
I've losT almost 2 stone so my snugpak needsreplacing

Not waterproof no, showerproof yes, I've always just worn a goretex army coat over the top.

Slightly off topic, but they make some fabulous face masks in all sorts of Camo, the same top quality manufacture as all their other gear (I have a canoe bag by them... Top notch).
DPM mask in Tesco is currently my favourite

I can't vouch for the mammoth but pertex/ pile smocks (buffalo etc.) are designed mainly for strenuous use, worn next to the skin or over a very thin base layer. The pile acts by wicking away moisture by capillary action and then uses the breathable outer to push the moisture out of the shell. For bank use... they'd only really be as good as a heavy fleece unless you are exerting a lot of energy say pushing a barrow or rowing! Search out Andy Kirkpatricks alpinist of some repute, he covered them in a blog a while ago.
I can vouch for Arktis windshirts though, great quality, price and very light great as a packable emergency waterproof
