Anyone have any reviews/experience of this reel ?
Looking for something about the size of Daiwa 25a for barbel rods setup.
There appears to be a Gold Spool version...just wondering how gaudy those actually look.

Plenty of better options out there. I went through the sold section of eBay to see if my problems happened to others, they came back with the same issues. Cheaply made, line goes behind spool without any line twist and other small niggles.
Check out emcast 25a, ss2600 or okuma 6000inc. I have the okumas after good reviews on here. Same price as the Soniks and miles better in nearly every way. Unsure of a Shimano equivalent as I don't own any or have used any.

I think that size of Reel is too big for a Barbel setup. (unless maybe you're fishing the Trent.)
Especially so if you're using a TC rod lighter than 2.5 lb.
I own the 25A , Okuma inception inc 6000 and ci4 5500 and would never fish for Barbel with them.
Go with the ss2600 size or lower.
The Daiwa GS 4000 is nice.

I think Sonik's designated sizing appears to be the problem here.
Although Sonik state it is a 5000 size reel it comes in at 415g. and is designed for 9ft/10ft stalking rods.
A couple of pics show it fitted to a 40mm ringed rod and in the video it only appears to be hand sized.
GS 4000 is a nice reel..twice the price though....I already have Emcast 25a reels and would probably use them if they were not already on dedicated setups....
I'm going to Gunthorpe next month ....hopefully

I had a Sonik reel, nice n compact but feel very cheap. The front drag on it was a bit too quick but just felt cheap. Also a lot of the reels were missing a centre bearing on production which made them wobble. Sonik sent the bearings out no problem but only found the fault after some research. Replaced with Okuma 6000 inc much better quality lovely line lay and ultra smooth.

You can pick up the okuma inc 6000 from bobco for £39.99 which is a bargain.
Have these on my 10ft rods and they're spot on. Feel better than reels I've had in the past that were twice the price.

I ordered from them originally but they were out of stock even though in stock on their site. Hopefully this is all sorted now as it's a fantastic price for the reel. I was just too impatient what with COVID delays

Nope, ordered mine at 6pm last night and just got an email saying when they came to pick the items there wasn't enough stock... Now waiting for an email to tell me when I can expect them

This was a couple of months ago this happened to me, shocked they never sorted it out. Or they're selling really fast which wouldn't surprise me at that price

He ordered three on Monday evening and were delivered by DPD yesterday.
Like you say I think they're selling fast at that price. Hopefully they'll get some in stock again soon.

I've had both now using the okuma inception 6000 and must say cracking reel for the money nicer reel over the GS4000
