Purchased a sim after ready how good they are
It's made my day trip flat 6 nice and comfortable but it's not nice to lay on
I've used an old carp porter cotton bed chair cover , a thin sheet like material
But after lying on it in the garden for thirty minutes I found it getting a bit sticky

I purchased a sim after reading the recommendations on this forum
Although it makes my bed chair feel comfortable

Is it a cheapy one or a backpacker type ? And as mentioned you put on your bed then bag on top

I use a flat six instead of a chair or my ass for days trips
I was going to use it on that, looks like I'll have to use it on my night bed
and maybe remove it during the day if the sun shines
No problem there
I hope to find something that isn't made of pvc type stuff instead

Depends if you buy a cheap one or a decent one from a camping shop mine stays on.my bed all year just fished down the river and stayed all night till 03.00 casting every 20 mins if I didn't get a fish and was in.my shirt sleeves it was that warm reeled in and laid on top of the bed / SIM and had a great 4 hours sleep a cheap crappy sim you would sweat like a rapist

I bought a cheap one as a test, made by Andes off amazon
Is the helium 3.8 made of a different material ?
The Andes one is like a pvc with a rubbery feel
I can't imagine any SIM would be any different

Just get the Helium, quality bit of kit and a nicer feel to it if you want to lie directly on it

Does the helium deflate well finding it a pain to fold the chair
I can get it folded but the sim is still pretty much inflated
Been toying with the idea of buying a Therm-a-Rest that isn't self inflating and blowing
the thing up
Any thoughts

When you open the bedchair just leave it for 5 minutes then do the valve up, when packing up just undo the valve and fold the bedchair, easy. They do self inflate better after being used a bit but if you blow in them it can become too 'hard' and cancel out the benefit of using it in the first place. I have had the cheapy ones and the Helium is different gravy, well worth the extra money. On offer by the looks at the mo as well LINK

I'll see how it goes lol
Because I already have a 5cm sim that seemed the way to go
Also it has a low R rating I felt because it's off the ground this wouldn't be too important
If it dosnt work out I could always buy another chair 😂

I've just bought a cheapo sim from Aldi. Was 13 quid reduced to 6 so why not. You can blow air into it to top it up its well comfy on the wife's rattan sun lounger so if it's no good on my bed then she can have it. 😉

I would have thought it would cancel out the benefits of the memory foam as your body contours are no longer laying on the memory foam and gaining any support.
Unless anyone else can add anything I see no reason for a sim on memory foam.

I made the mistake when I retired of spending an absolute fortune on the best memory foam mattress I could buy at the time
what a mistake it was a hot summer and it does not breath and so I was boiling hot and soaking wet with sweat I sold it 5 weeks later at a loss of over £400
I bought a pocket sprung mattress with no problems

I can categorically say that they both deliver the same levels of comfort, irrespective of brand. Personally think you need to find the SIM that fits your bedchair (the inner section inside the padded bedchair perimeter) to negate it moving around too much as you move in your sleep.

I have an indulgence and indulgence emperor depending on if i take the dog or not.
Would i removed the foam bottom to the bed and then replace with a SIM?
