Hi guys,
I want to know your input, please.
Do you use flavours? And if so, in powder form or liquid?
I always try to use powder flavours (if i use them nowadays) as I think they stay in the bait better/longer.
Thanks in advance!

I use spice powders, can't see the point in artificial flavours in a well constructed bait. They may well add attraction in a basic soya semo mix, but in a good quality food bait I think they add nothing at all and are a waste of money

There are good and bad liquid flavours. Some of the so called 'artificial' flavours are amazing blends of various chemicals that are all known to attract carp i.e. Scopex. Some just try to smell like something we would like and add zero attraction to the carp. Some 'natural' falvours are also a complete waste of money, out of the complex mix os chemicals in a natural flavour (it could contain 200 different chemicals) only one or two really attract the carp.....things like Scopex have been designed to only use these elusive few substances.
For me a base mix has to attract on its own with whatever dry ingredients you use and then I will look at adding a low level falvour blend that I think will add further attraction

Flavours are a personal thing , good advice has been given in the 2 previous posts and do agree with them but to answer your question about powders and liquids in my experience it depends on what mix I'm using and what I'm trying to achieve .
I try to make my baits as attractive as possible to carp with natural ingredients but some mixes do benefit from the odd palatant or 2 , I've only just got back into rolling my own after a 20 year break in rolling and have been surprised by the vast amounts of natural attractors that are now readily available to home made bait makers , things like tuna hydro powder are superb attractors and personally my mixes with this in don't require any additional ‘false' flavours , another is Salmigo or Salmon hydro when mixed with a bit of yeast extract and cod liver oil will produce an amazing lingering attractor for big carp without a requirement for flavour

Thanks for your input so far. Your views are the same as my own. The thing is (and that's the background to my question), I'm completing a sweet birdfood/nut /milk mix. I want to keep this mix completely sweetish. And this is where I'm stuck: there aren't products like salmon hydro for a sweet mix. The only useful hydro's or liquids I found for this mix are active yeast liquid and csl liquid. Both of which I don't particularly rate.

I don't know if you're aware but BAF's peanut protein powder takes some beating , although not a hydro it is a very useful ingredient and low in fat as far as peanut proteins go , another excellent product I've been using in my mixes in the moist egg food type CLO products , very nice sweet smelling honey / lemon flavouring to it , I get mine from supapets.
I use celmanax liquid or powder in my higher carb mixes too , I'm also convinced this product is a superb additive that goes with with starchy type meals .
I do occasionally use banana powder and vanilla powder they produce a lovely sweet bait along side lactostim or Milk B+ both very good additions to birdfood and nut based baits , CC Moore's Amino 365 is a great liquid very sweet and caramel tones to it , also BAF's tigernut extract liquid is top notch

Hi,
Really funny you mention these additives. As i already use most of them in my mix. As a matter of fact, these are my ingredients:
Vitamealo
CLO
Wheat meal
Vanilla meal
Tiger nut meal
Peanut protein
Whey protein concentrate
Csl powder
Brocacel
Milky B
Never heard of the Celmanax liquid. Is it about the same as brocacel? Will look into that one and Amino 365. Thanks for your input again!

Never heard of the Celmanax liquid.
Think it is what they use in Mainlines CELL

My current mix is similar to yours and I found the same lack of sweet liquids. Been using CC Moore's Amino 365 and it smells amazing, a real creamy scopex like smell

Great news! Though, I have been a bit worried about CC Moore liquids. I read they are mostly glycerine and flavor. I use their Roasted Nut Extract, but i think about using something else because of the glycerine comment.

Don't listen to the haters. Cc Moore gear is excellent and their service is brilliant. Email Ian if you have any concerns

I've been tinkering a lot over the lockdown period with ingredients , I've learnt a lot over the last six months
Celmanax is claimed to break down the carbs turning them into sugars ( unless someone knows a better more expansive explanation) , and as scaley said it's rumoured to be in the Cell mix , I use it in liquid and powder form in my nut mix .
Your ingredients are very similar to what I've been playing with although I have been using Acid and Rennet milks at 10% combined instead of vitamealo, along with milk b , and vanilla powder , I get the milks from Bacarel and find them very good price wise and very fast free delivery on any order .
The 365 Amino blend really is a winner but it is expensive and wish it came in bigger bulk bottles , although saying that I'm only using 50ml a kilo so works out about 50p to 60p a mix which I don't mind paying

Okay, thanks for your input, mate! I always liked cc moore as a brand and rated their gear. But when people claim such things, I start to worry.

I am the same. The bait is the thing we have to catch them with. I can't go fishing often so when I go, I want to have a great bait. I also don't mind spending the extra money.
I will buy the Amino Blend 365 to try.
Thanks!

Or, you could use nut hydro which is a proper hydro. Baf were selling nut hydro a while back. Not sure if they still are but Baitwize also carry it. Think I'd prefer to use tiger nut liquid but then I don't rate anything cc Moore produce.

He's already got Peanut pro in powder form in his base mix but suppose it depends on what you want to include in your base mix at the end of the day and who you trust with manufacturing it , I've used cc moore liquids over the years and been very successful with them

They still do, and I feel dumb for not seeing it a few weeks back when I ordered from the Netherlands. The shipping costs are 17 euro, so not really viable to order just a bottle of it.
The tiger nut liquid they sell here too, but the use before date is only half a year. So I worry about bad baits in a few months.

One more question and not doubting you, but how do you know cc moore sell flavored syrups?

BAF's nut hydro is the peanut Pro powder that has been hydrolysed. Super volatile so guessing that's why it's currently not for sale. I'm sure once they've worked out how to stabilise it, it will be back.

Yes I do use their stuff, excellent products indeed. Just like BAF. They only don't have a hydro that I can use in this bait.

by tasting it. Granted, there's probably some amino product in there too. I just prefer products that give off free aminos.

and this '....I don't rate anything cc Moore produce' is because, I assume, one type of liquid you tried was sweet and therefor your instant chemical analysis makes the complete range poor?
CC Moore have been around a long time in the feed industry (over 60 years), they have some real gems in the range and a lot of the 'standard' stuff if very good quality at a fare price. Many have come and gone in that time but they are still going because there products catch fish.
I am not connected but have used them for >15 years and still find them hard to better.

Ok, we'll just have to agree to disagree. Compared to companies like British Aqua Feeds their products are not in the same league imo. We're all entitled to our own opinion. I'm not a fan but I won't elaborate further. Sure cc Moore do some great products which catch lots of fish, just not for me. For the record I've been fishing for carp since the early 90's and have used cc Moore products in the past. I just never did that well on them. Perhaps I'm just a bad angler although I seem to catch a few.
