Seen this brand been mentioned a lot on catch reports from a local lake. Seems to be catching up to 40lb+ carp and thought to ask on this forum. Has anyone used this bait? The Mad Baits white pop ups over the local lake pellet seems to be doing some serious damage so I'm wondering is it just working wonders on this particular lake or others.

Ive used the asbo, wicked whites and nutz plus from mad baits over the last 12 months on both farlows, my syndicate and abroad. Ive had a mediocre year, nothing special. The asbo was the most successful for me but to be fair, i have used more of it.
Unfortunately their customer service leaves a lot to be desired and their social media is full of very uninspiring content (15lb simmo spam) which suggests a bit of desperation to me
I have a good mate who is one of their 'team members' who pays £6 a kilo with his team member discount for a 'test' bait
Says it all to me. I've gone back to my previous supplier and will use the last 15 kilo for loose feed in france in october

Reading between the lines I'd guess you mean Ladywood? I wouldn't base my bait choice on just one water personally especially there... it's an overstocked hole in ground with no naturals.... the fish are fed large amounts of fishmeal pellet on a regular basis, and they sell mad baits on site... hence pellets and usually a white hookbait catch.
As for the bait itself from what I've seen it's the usual over flavoured, overpriced Euro trash with very little nutritional value

That last post has surprised me a little tbh, I thought their prices were high because they used top quality ingredients.

I'm inclined to agree with Hadrian in that quality may not be at its best. Imo lots of maize and bran is used as the bulk with a "hint" of useful ingredients

That would explain why the wicked whites are publicised so much in their posts if they're sold on site. I wasn't intending on getting a tub as I've got an armoury of Scent from Hells and other (potentially) devastating hook baits to use. I've not fished it for 10 year. Although will likely invest in some of their pellet as they're on a heavy feeding programme.

I see Keith Moores now has it as his house bait on his lake in France and highly recommends it. Its pretty cheap prize wise so mskes you wonder..

Would love to see some evidence behind some of the claims in here, such as the bait being 'over flavoured euro trash' or the bait being bulked out with crap and having no nutritonal value, I've found the exact opposite true and its all high quality ingredients and very good bait, all their baits are rolled in their factory in Cambridge. The comment about the pictures on their Facebook being all 15lb simmo's is bizarre as well, you only have to go and have a quick scroll and its nothing like that at all.

Are you joking!? The last 2 fish they have posted are a single 26lb simmo from b1 and common that id guess is an upper double. Hardly decent advertising is it!?

tbf, my mate has just switched from active baits to mad baits, i told him he was crazy, he then had 3 upper 20's from a tricky water the first time he used their bait, so who knows.

i have ordered a fair bit of bait to take to France this month from them. we went to their factory and spoke at length with Mark the main man, he showed us around and we watched them roll the baits they certainly werent putting bran or any of the so called crap in them. he has told us we can come down to watch him roll our baits and see what he puts in them. you cant get any fairer than that.

The reason I mentioned the bran and maize was down to the fact that on a recent trip to the animal feed supplier I noticed a pallet of sacks with mad baits written on it. Upon further inspection I saw mostly maize meal, bran approx 15 sacks of each plus a couple of sack of provimi 66 fishmeal... Maybe I've come to the wrong conclusion but seemed a lot of filler ings for a bait firm.

lol as other bait companies dont use corn meal , it is pure protein in other baits

From what I've been told, they don't use any of that stuff in ANY of their baits and also they get all their stuff delivered direct from manufacturers so they're not ordering stuff from farm shops, which means you're either making sutff up and lying OR you're just mistaken, either way you're 100% wrong though, maybe give the inspectors magnifying glass a little wipe over before trying to solve another mystery Inspector

Direct from manufacturer perhaps would be copdock mill, so that ties in with my inspectors investigation. I'm pretty good at reading so no problem there, and I know where I was at the time of seeing said pallet. I'm certainly not a liar and I don't make stuff up... Maybe they also have horses that they buy they're feed for from copdock.. I just posted what i saw, sorry if it hit a nerve!!

I've only seen the nut mix that they do and tbf it looks pretty much like anyone elses nut mix. The stuff i saw was quite crumbly and imho had a good blend of micronised cereals (maize) as a bulking agent. I'm sorry if my opinions are off the mark, but I can only say what I think

Ok, so whilst we are making accusations despite people saying about what they have physically seen and read on a delivery pallet.....what makes what you have been saying factually correct, apart from it being what you have 'been told'!? Because im pretty sure that even the worst bait company (which mad baits are not) wont admit to padding their bait out with rubbish and will tell you exactly the same as you have been told

Maize meal/flour or provimi 66 are not bad ingredients used sensibly, in moderation in a balanced nutritional boilie.
Loads of companies, and many proven baits have both ingredients in.
TBH Maize meal/flour is a very boilie machine rolling friendly ingredient

Agreed, I like using micronised maize in a birdfood and yes provimi is a handy ingredient. My observation was based around the ratios of filler vs protein which seemed somewhat one sided.. Maybe because I came from the old nutrabaits days I still expect a boilie to be of a certain standard rather than the new way of doing things

Unless you know Jerry very well or indeed the exact recipe details, how do you know the ratios in the bait ?
Agreed, ratios of human grade Milk proteins, fishmeal in general, certain birdfood colour ingredient, Paprika inclusion rates have changed massively in some baits over the years.
Some little changes & things that companies do over time, only a 'old skool' home bait roller would notice

Maybe that's my problem, still harking back to the old days when a basemix was a whole lot different.
You are correct in that I don't know the ratios and perhaps that was a little underhanded to say and I guess that a lot of successful bait firms are using the same model so to single one out is a bit wrong. Maybe I should have said that all modern fb based bait firms are imo rubbish lol...
There I go again, dreaming of days when Robin red used to stain everything and a fm bait used to stink of it rather than having just a faint whiff..
Should I retract my comments, nah I think il just keep rolling my baits and crack on.

Personal bait Experience isn't a bad thing when you have a certain preference, or confidence in a well made bait, wether it is a milk protein, Fishmeal, Nut based, birdfood, yeast based, You know if it is decent mix or not.
Some Favourite ingredients have been consistant, or have changed, or been banned due to silly EU regulations, many bait companies have fallen by the wayside over the years, but nowadays with some, but not all, it is all about marketing & social media likes, and machine rollability, than the ACTUAL QUALITY of the bait being used.
Look what happened to Baitcraft, and also Nutrabaits after Big Bill left. People notice changes, and don't swallow the BS and leave in their droves.
There are a few exceptions to the rule, so I see it as confident pitch, and Good customer service in my eyes, that Mad baits are offering interested, possible new customers to watch them roll the bait up in front of people, you can get a very good idea on quality control from a personal visit and a chat.

That's a fair point and maybe I should retract my comments and I'm sure I would if I had 1st hand experience of the operation.
Your point about nutrabaits is well made, and I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole nowadays, preferring to source my own ings from the best suppliers I can find
On a side note, it's nice to resolve a conversation with a bit of chat and a friendly outcome rather than the usual "where's your proof" kind of comments and a general attack on others who see things a little differently.

I just think that your comments are what anyone who is particular and/or passionate about their bait of choice being right and fresh, would like to know, myself included. So I understand your dilemma perfectly.
I think some people are now going down the best quality you can get, use a bit less freebies, buy little and often mindset, that fresh is a better route over a season rather than mass marketed bargin bait at a good price.
sound chat & conversation indeed

Seeing as it was myself that started all this controversy, and agreeing with the latest comments... I thought I'd better cover myself, I'm a dyed in the wool, pure, quality base mix guy.... I like to feel that the feed I give them some way makes up for sticking a great big hook in their gobs!!
I was fortunate enough to use Nutrabaits Hi Nu Val just before release and continued to use it along with other products in the range for a good few years, I then had a spell with the stunning Grange CSL and then went on to Premiers Aminos in the mid 90's and still use it to this day.
Unfortunately most baits now are hawked to the masses via advertising and sponsorship, with the aim of maximum profit and with very little thought to the benefit that the carp may derive from it. It may be an old fashioned view but I'll stick with it, I'll reiterate the Mad bait I've seen I wouldn't use on principle, your mileage may vary as they say. Use what you are confident in obviously but rather than thinking how much per kilo, consider the gains your quarry will benefit from it in the long run.

Great post and it would seem that we come from a very similar background as I was a huge nutrabaits fan, 1st using bfm and then biollix and 4 seasons.. 3 top quality mixes that caught everywhere it went. Long may we continue to reap the rewards of a well thought out bait that does the fish a lot of good, after all as you say we owe them that.

I can't speak for the anglers mentioned, but plenty of household name anglers are lured by bait companies, whether it's cash or free bait or both I don't know, but when push comes to shove they don't seem too loyal to their respective companies and will chop and change at will. Obviously they need to have confidence in the bait they are using, but it's amazing how many of them always seem to fish a “special” over the top of their companies freebies!!

I just see it as some sort of karma to our prey, capture without doubt (to me at least) causes pain, trauma and stress so anything we can do to negate that such as aiding the fishes recovery is a bonus and this in turn helps me sleep a tiny bit better at night.
I find modern day bait companies are basically the same as fast food and junk food suppliers, advertise the hell out of it, maximise profits and turn a blind eye to the consequences of such practices....

Did a few nights with a mate last week and he had the big common from welly out on it.
Not sure if it was the whites or nut as he mixed the two.
Worked for him.

I can guarantee that what you saw was not going into mad bait own boilies. They roll alot of bait for other companies to their specific recipes and that is probably what those ingredients were for.
They source all their ingredients from the same place as sticky and will happily tell anyone who wants to know what goes into each bait.
I've been using it exclusively this year and have by far my best season on it.
