Hi guys just been accepted on the north met not my first choice was wanting to get on nazeing so not asking how to fish and what bait to use would just like to know a little bit about the lake,I know it a massive pit and gonna walk it next weekend would just like to get a feel for it before I pay. Any info would be great thanks in advance

Did a few sessions on there in the mid 90's.
My advice would be to keep a close eye on your gear!.
Lots of footpaths around the main perimiter of the lake, with everybody and anybody able to wander about, ranging from families with kids to drunks and ****ers.
Also had a few cars broken into in the carpark, so common sense applies-dont leave anything in your car!
I know its a long time since I was there and it may have got better over the years.
Its a big lake, large open expanse of water, but there are lots of areas where you can find them close in as well.
I only had the one fish from there, simply because it was totally the wrong water for me at that time, as I wasnt experienced enough or geared up to fish a big pit like that.

I honestly wouldn't pay much attention to the so called ‘trouble' fished it on and off for a few years not so long ago, never had any bother other than the odd drunks making a bit of noise, only ever heard of one thing going on and it was a group of teenagers nicking someone's weed. It's no different to any of the other waters on the parks books. Good bit of fishing, if you can put up with it being busy and the savage crayfish, plenty of places to go and get away from it all and you can get chances all over if you look hard enough. It was more of a stepping stone water for myself, I was between tickets at the time and it was readily available, caught more than my fair share fishing weekends, from unflavoured areas too.

Got mixed feelings to be fair I think I will join as a very cheap water may start with doing days and see how I go and if the nazeing ticket come up then all good

I did a couple of seasons on there a while back now. No carp but a few eels and tench.
With regards parking. I never used the car parks, I just parked on Cadmore Lane near the houses. Left nothing visible in the car.
Added a bit more to the walk but had piece of mind and never had any trouble.

If you think nazeing is going to be any safer then I'd think again. If anything as far as recent history goes it's probably got a worse reputation than the met as far as kit going missing. If it's that much of a worry then the lee valley parks probably isn't the place for you to be honest dude as more or less every water on there books is more or less the same with regards to public access 24 hours a day. Like I said mind, it's not overly bad, it's certainly not like wraysbury was in its day, and I've personally fished places a hell of a lot worse.

What's the fascination with the Lagoons? The Met is a good water. It is busy as are all the Valley waters. It's just the nature of fishing in a park really.
If you're feeling twitchy, you can always get on a jetty if one is free. The north end of the Met that's separate from the main water is well worth investigating and shouldn't be ignored.

No fascination was nazeing just my first choice I will be joining the met .I fish a lot on the lower Thames so dont believe it will be any worse than that,the parking situation is more of a worry but will be able to work that one out

Had a ticket in the early nineties, Really enjoyed the place.... Due to work commitments I only fished early mornings.
Basically I would watch the water and cast to showing fish if the swim was vacant. I caught my fair share never had any issues with the motor or people.
Took my bike with the gear on it.
Another tactic in the warmer months was to prebate a few neglected margin spots . If the lake was busy I'd head there straight away

If you've got a van, they're always too much of a temptation for thieves. Maybe for peace of mind you could always park up in the railway station car park at Cadmore Lane if they've got CCTV cameras. Would cost a few quid

You will have lots of cray friends to keep you company on either.
Fished the met for 2 season never had any issues or heard about anyone else with issues but as said it open access to public do you need to be smart and alert while fishing.
