Just found out the hard way my RT4 isn't insured under my contents insurance with the rest of my tackle as it comes under a watercraft and is not covered

No all my tackle is insured up to the sum of £20k anywhere in the world and whilst in use day or night for theft or damage.

Maybe argue it's a bit of fishing tackle or a remote control model, I would've said a watercraft is something you travel in?

you will have to fight this, they will always shun you away with claims, my advice tell them you will get legal help or a loss adjuster or something , but the point is that boat is 100% fishing tackle and they have to pay out, its sole use if for fishing, its only ever been used for fishing, and it was bought for fishing,
you will defo get your money but it might need kicking a fuss

I think warchild is right. Definitely worth following up on. It could be something as simple as a generic computer system seeing the word 'boat' and making a default decision.
Given the cause of the damage I'd make sure your van insurance is up to date too mind....

Would like to know this as well, contents insurance that's covers anywhere in the world, I've known of a mate that had his insures on his contents but when he claimed for theft it was rejected as he was asleep in his bivvy and the small print said he had a duty of care to look after it which he could not do if asleep.

When I had insurance a few years ago with LV I believe I asked them the very same thing about night fishing and being asleep with a remote receiver in the bivvy,they said it was ok and I got them to send me a confirmation stating so.
They did say tho that if it happened more than once they would investigate further
