I've just started fishing a fairly weedy lake. I've been using the korda hooks as the hooks I use to use and like I can't seem to get hold of. ( Drenam super specialist). I don't like using the korda hooks as I find that bend to easy. the question is what strong hook do you recommend for fishing a weedy lake

Gardner continental range, or carp R Us centurions if you can find them.
Korda do their ‘X' versions too which are a thicker gauge. I don't buy in to the ‘Korda hooks are crap' b*llocks, I've never had an issue personally.

I tested a bunch of hooks in my lab at work a few years ago and Atomic came out the toughest. They're hard as nails.

I used to use Solar 101s stronghold but last couple of years used the Carp R Us ATS Continentals in size 2, a beast of a hook👍👍

Gardner Continental Mugga's are super strong, + another vote for Atomic's.
Anything will be stronger than the super specialists... they're chub hooks.

I didn't realize carp r us where still going ? Thort that had disappeared years ago. I did use them about 20 years ago and found the hooks good

Their Centurions are a proper beast of a hook. I'll use them for snags but for a bit of weed I don't think you need anything particularity special.

The Continentals are an addition to the cRu range, a slightly different version of the original Centurion 2000. Features a longer Ultra sharp point, slightly longer shank and looks to be slightly heavier gauge wire.

Had the exact same issue with Korda on my weedy venue. Hooks bent and broke very frequently. Tried and tested several brands, and have been using Gardner without any problems for over two years.

Use to use the owner hooks a lot. But can't seem to find them anywhere. Mind you I went threw a spell of bending them and even snapped some in a lake with no weed or snags and most fish where mid dubble

Been using the Carp R Us Hooks since 1996 nothing else's comes close absolutely love the Centurions in 12-10-8-6 and have used the predators and others in theirs range IMHO.
I do use the Solar 101 for a pop up rig it throw together a decade ago and impressed with their strength.
Although more recently I've been pretty impressed by the Gardner Range.

I've used korda widegape x's on extremely weedy waters and never had an issue. I'm not a massive fan of korda but I think there hooks get bad press. The standard korda range is light weight but the X and XX are great hooks in my eyes.

A several years ago I gave Korda terminal Tackle a try the hooks and hooks lengths broke on me so gave it all to the Bin. Having said that I have used their Boom more recently until I found a better alternative.
I'm near the end of my original Kryston stock and know It's something I'll need to sort much to my frustration.

I'm not saying all their hooks are crap. What I do know is that they cost me about 15 fish last year, including a known fifty. They either bent or broke. I switched to Gardner and 1,5 years later I have not yet lost a fish due to my hooks.

Carp R Us centurion 2000 are very good. Used them at Rainbow and was not let down.

There are two faults that can cause that: Too soft and they can bend, too hard and they can break (they become brittle). Having both in a single batch of hooks is almost impossible. Having both in multiple batches is unlikely.
Of course, a perfectly good hook (i.e. not too soft or hard) can bend or break if the hook hold is not good. A hook is basically a spring and if the force isn't loaded as intended they can fail. Maybe you were using a pattern that wasn't suited to the rig?

I know, I should have from hindsight. But I only got back to carp fishing two years ago after 20 years of piking. Had a very tough first season and landed on some good fish during the second. Had a badly stocked tackle box. Maybe tough to believe, but once you have a shed full of crap for pike, you do not just spend thousands on carp tackle as long as you're not sure if you will continue fishing for them. The owner of my tackle shop advised some endtackle and off I went. Had about three packs of hooks. After two or three failures from the first package, I threw it away and tried the other two with the same results. In the end I went to the tackle shop and the second owner said I shouldn't buy those Korda's because they're a mess. He gave me some Gardners and my problems were solved.
Don't get me wrong. May have sure been in part because of some beginner's error or a bad batch and the conditions were very demanding, with many fish snagged in the weeds. But I've never had any patterns that weak ever since (nor have I caught as many carp over the course of two week)s. Caught the bug since then and I always take multiple patterns now.

I fish a very weedy lake and have been using Korda Kranks without any issue, perhaps it's the pattern as opposed to the hook that's the problem. Solar Stronghold have a decent rep.
