First post on here but just after a little advice, I've just recently gotten back into fishing and purchased a Advanta Protector Extreme 1 Man Bivvy, Model 1 Man Bivvy. Mainly bought for day fishing as I just don't like a brolly, the question is after just putting it up for the first time in the garden before I take it out I noticed the back of my chair slightly touches the top of the bivvy itself is this going to mean in the rain I get wet ?

any tent , you want to avoid that. however that bivvy is 130cm high. you should be able to arrange your chair so it doesn't touch the sides.

Just put it so it doesn't touch, after all you've bought something which is much ant for people to put a bed in which is a lot bigger...

Yeah I can right in the middle but the top cushion just touches it slightly, the main question here really is is the bivvy going to leak if it's touched from the inside or will it still stay water proof and not leak.

What chair is it? As I've never seen anything that wouldn't fit into a bivvy without touching Unless you've bought a bivvy designed for a midget..
But no it shouldnt leak, that more for old twin skin tents etc from back in the day before materials improved to what they are today

It's not forcing on the bivvy itself it just ever so slightly touches it which I was concerned about as I don't want to be sat there getting dropped on because of it

Sorry but that makes no sense at all, it's a chair and a bivvy, the chair should sit inside the bivvy with miles of space without touching anywhere. Are you sure you've set the bivvy up properly?

Yeah the video is the same bivvy, and yeah it has the tension bars which were adjusted corrected to pull

How much do I make it shorter though, I get what your saying now in terms of bringing it closer will make the bivvy higher

It's a question of suck it and see try one knot then two or more. Just put the knots at the edges so you don't trip over them. It will reduce the width though so if you have a long bedchair beware.

You should have a pegging point atbeither extreme where the tension strap attaches
You can just push that rib in a bit by a few inches each side then peg it . You can experiment then.

I kind of thought this myself, I don't see it adding my much more room though by putting a few knots in it but I will happily try.

How though ..... my chair folds out to a certain height there's not a lot I can do about that, the only thing I could do is not fold out the back legs of my chair and be sat virtually on the ground this is the only way I can see the chair fitting in with a lot of clearance from the top

God knows, but that bivvy is over a metre tall and chairs aren't so something must be wrong somewhere. People live in bivvies for weeks on end so have quite a bit of kit that fits inside and yet you cant fit a simple chair in? It doesn't make sense if everything is set up correctly

My carp chair that I have put a link below here when the legs are folded out it's over a metre high the back of the chair is tall not like a lot of carp chairs

Yeah I had a look, should still fit easily if everything is set up properly. It does say your chair is 57cm, so add the legs and it should still be under a metre though? And your bivvy is 1.3?

i saw the link mate, and it did look tall and high backed. however with a 130 cm (i read the spec) bivvy
if you shorten the tension strap or just peg it narrower at those points, im sure you will be happy
i looked at the video , and when the guy attached the tension strap it hardly did anything, so it does sit low
i think you have a lot of wiggle room there to make it higher.

If you peg out the two front points closer together the bivvy will sit taller. That should be all you need to do, forget about tension straps.
