Looking to get another boat and having had a microcat for last 10
Years I'm looking at the rt4 and keen to hear users feedback

I went from Microcat to RT4, wouldn't go back. I really like my RT4, but as a base boat I think you have to give serious consideration to others which are comparable and cheaper. I would only buy direct, simply for the 3 year warranty, but second hand units have to be a option now especially as folk are working on them in the U.K it would seem and CL themselves are opening a U.K branch in Essex.
Motors, the powerful ones are great but mine were really jittery at low speeds/tight adjustment and they were noisy too, I changed mine for the quiet ones and wouldn't go back.
Bait spirals. some love them, others don't, I have 2, still not used them
Edit, Add on, I'd get the new multi battery charger over the Robbe
Deeper with boom, not the best regards turning the boat and losing signal even at relatively close range. I'm trying the range extender in a previous topic and facebook, have all the gear just need to get out and try it. This has been successful for some but not for others...I wait to see!

Thanks Vossy any one else with any tips on what extras to look at and avoid as I see they are doing the big one show deals so I'm going to take advantage im just unsure which one to go for

I have an RT4 with the Raymarine Dragonfly and the Autopilot/Mapping. Depends on what type of lakes you fish but big gravel pits with lots of features it's a total game changer, blows the Deeper out of the water (excuse the pun
) and of course has a much bigger range. I can Whatsapp you some examples if you like.
As far as the basics go, I would get the 'Low Noise Brushed Motors', the brushless are totally overkill for UK lakes and noisy as hell. Get the cheaper Jamara handset, if you do end up getting the autopilot you can easily switch back and forward between the two, the Futaba won't do this. If you aren't sure about the bait spiral I would at least get the circuitry/sockets added to save sending it back if you decide you want them, I have just one that I use now and again. The rest is mainly cosmetic, so up to you but the basic light set up etc is fine, I always have all that switched off during daylight anyway. The one thing to consider if you go down the mapping/autopilot route is a bigger capacity battery. I have the purple 24500mah one as the main and one of the supplied black ones as the backup.
The only other thing is what to carry it in. I got the Fox Voyager that fits everything in it and the mat to sit it on is very useful though an old unhooking mat obviously does the job just more bulky.

Like Chuffy has pointed out, if you intend to upgrade at some point you might want to future proof it.
Re the hand set, yes the Jamara is easier to use should you upgrade to the autopiliot in the future, but it doesn't have the range of the Futaba. I have no intention of getting the autopilot again so went for the Futaba.*
If fishing where lowering the boat can be a problem get the boat lifter.
Don't restrict yourself to thinking you can only have what's in the big one deals, you'll be able to add on to them...naturally for a price.

I was going to ask if anyone had the top of the line one. Man, that's some seriously cool stuff. Looks like it's a proper game changer as you mention, just a shame I can't use one on my water [sad face]

Sorry to bring up an old thread. I'm looking at getting the rt4, what's it like in rough ish waters? I'm a member on a 280 acre reservoir and don't want to buy it if I can only use it when the water is calmer at night.

One word. Superb
I used mine over in France a couple of years ago in 55 mile an hour winds....it was like an ocean
I would recommend the brushless motors though as you need the extra power against waves

Sorry to bring this tread up again. I'm looking at getting a basic rt4 boat with autopilot built in. I was just wondering what the battery life is like on these?. Will I need to buy another set when ordering? I mainly do 2/3night sessions

If you are getting the Raymarine and Autopilot with mapping etc I suggest at least getting one of the big purple batteries so you always have plenty of juice. If just X Pilot without the mapping etc the standard batteries should be ok, all depends on size of lakes you are fishing what hardware you've got and what you expect the boat to do. Lots of batteries for sale 2nd hand at the mo because of people buying the new plug and play system.

Cheers Iv looked at the Raymarine and Autopilot with mapping but honestly don't think I would use it enough to justify the extra money. At the moment I have the carp technices sb4 brilliant little boat and I was going to add the autopilot to that but decided to chop that in and treat my self to something better.
I will have have a look at the second hand battery's cheers
