After a new spod rod as my chub RS-plus spod rod isn't quite cutting it anymore.
Looking to spend around the £100-120 mark. A couple of rods that i've got my eyes on are Greys GT Distance Spod Rod at £120 and the Daiwa Crosscast Spod Rod at £90.
What are your thoughts/recommendations lads?

I've got the greys GT spod rod dont like it myself but could be down to my ability of casting I've got an emblem spod loaded with 30 lb whiplash and no matter how hard I wind it up doesn't got no more than say 100 yards, I used my mates freespirit spomb rod with my reel on it and goes so much further

2nd hand decent one or Free spirit ctx.
I use a Bruce Ashby rocketeer. Bit of a beast, shame I can't compress it enough for full potential.

Yep 13ft ctx excellent spombing rod, plenty of power...and sensibly priced...picked mine up at the big one show last year for 120

Just buy the highest \ cheapest TC , and save the rest of your money on a some Beers or a bottle or two of wine!

I wouldn't agree it's just a spod rod it makes the job a hell of a lot easier having a good one especially at range picking the biggest TC is no indication it will be any good. It might be well heavy and uncomfortable to use for long periods of time. If I had the choice of a few beers or a decent spod rod I know what I would pick

Have a look on E bay someones selling Rod Hutchinson Dream Maker spod rods brand new for £80 plus p&p might be worth a look.

E Bay Oakwood 5lb tc £28.i don't look after it just throw it around and 3 yrs later it's still perfect. Wish it would break so I get a new one

possibly a Harrison blank . ive used the rocketeer 2 for the last 22 years and it still does a 100 yards with a large spomb ok
