Hi all, I'm looking at purchasing the jag 2 plus 1 buzz bars. I know they are very tight with 3 rods and big pits. Would I be better off buying 2 front bars as opposed to front and rear? Or does anyone who uses them think front and rear is fine? Thanks

It was just too tight for my liking so i got two fronts.

Thanks, I have seen that post, I think I'm leaning towards two fronts as the rear seems a bit tight but was wondering if I used a front one at the back how it would affect a two rod setup. Would they be too far apart.

Front and rear is fine with 2 rod set up, i prefer front and front with a 3 rod

Thats what I was thinking, but if you buy another front for a 3 rod set up then that defeats the idea of 2 plus 1

Just seen you pictures and that's really helped, I like the spacing. Can you tell me is that an Nano or Micro pod? That is a perfect set up you have there.

Hi Dane. You might not be looking at my post as I don't own a nano or micro. I use a super compact pod. It was some time ago that I took the pictures but I thought I just put the bars on single sticks in the garden. Can you post a link to what you were looking at. But to answer your question in general terms, the nano and the micro are exactly the same pod. The only difference is the length of the middle carbon bar. The nano bar allows the pod to fit in a two rod bag, the micro pod fits in the three rod.

Yes. There are threaded adapters that I have screwed into my bars all the time that allow me to use them either goalpost or with the super compact pod. Or obviously on single sticks which Is how I use mine most of the time.

I think that's the case right across the industry. Obviously a lot of Uk manufacturers shut down, others like Jag switched to covid stuff. Manufacturers who use Chinese factories have obviously had a delay. Which pretty much means that when everyone went lock down Internet purchase crazy, once the shops sold out they were always going to struggle to get replacement stock.
Your best bet is to message the lovely Tom on Jags social media for updates. He's good at getting answers and let's be honest he hasn't got anything else to do.

I went into angling direct in Waltham cross yesterday for something to do
Not quite sure how long they are going to be open for as there is nothing in stock lol
A couple of other shops I have been in since re opening are getting the same way And say they can't get the stock
All The suppliers need to start getting stuff to the shops Or they will have to shut again

I have been looking at these a lot recently.
Can I ask on the super compact pod. If you wanted to go down to a two rod set up, can you bring the buzz bars back inwards and adjust the base of pod?

Yes you can. However one thing to bare in mind if using narrow bars like the 2+1 bars in closed up position is that makes the pod very narrow and I feel a little top heavy for my liking. So I would either peg it down. Or to be honest I still just open the bars up to their full width even when only using two rods as it's not like the bars are wide so they don't look odd when fully open as a two rod.

Use the base,4 sticks then you can have pod as wide as you need and adjust the height of each rod individually

Ah. Sorry. I misunderstood. The micro and nano are perfect to use with 2+1 bars in the closed position as the legs of the pod would be wider that the bars so it's very stable when set up like that.

Think I'm gonna go with x1rear and x1 front when the come back in stock, problem I'm having is I keep changing my mind on which pod I want to go for out of the nano or the super compact mk2 , both look like great bits of kit, can't decide

I'm the same about the pod but think I will go for the micro pod. The fact you can screw or peg the legs down should make it more stable than normal pod. Mind you, might be less to carry with the compact as you will have the sticks to use as a snag bar setup anyway!!

I think the 2 + 1 are great but they serve a purpose,most of my waters are 2 rod, only a few of them are 3 rod so that's why I went for the 2 +1. if all my waters were 3 rod I would of gone for adjustable trebles.

Still haven't decided! I just get the feeling the rear is going to be way to tight with 3 rods but concerned if I use the front as a rear when I'm using a 2 rod set up they might be too far apart....

Lovely mate, in the second pic down infront of the dis used warehouse. The 2 plus 1's you are using with 3 rods. Would you confirm which bars you are using please?
Are they standard front and rear, just trying to see if I can fit my 12000 XTB's on them.

Just been having a mess about with my 316 compacts, when I fish one lake with only two rods I don't open them up
I've opened the rear up to meet the size of the front 2 plus 1 closed and it's only approx 25mm difference so if I go for two fronts I can set them to fish 3 rods at my normal width as the compacts or it will just be slightly wider if using 2 rods

defintely not too tight with 5500 size reels,a bit of squeeze with 1400 but manageable. I have the nano pod but I also have the micro pod centre bar which is longer for when I fish 12ft rods. pegging it I use anything from normal bivvy pegs,to fine gauge metal camping pegs when on the canal to go between the block paving and also the screws that come with it

Thanks, I bought the nano pod and I have 12ft rods, when I got it I couldn't believe how small it was. Think I will defo get the micro bar.

Glad I saw this post, I'm going to order a pair of 2+1's and I'm currently using 5500 baby big pits so I'd imagine the rear and front combo would work but I'm thinking in the future if I changed the reels a pair of fronts would be a better option to begin?

I ve got 5500 shimanos and have front and rear and they're fine, ive also got emblem 45s and although tight can also fir them in without folding handles on front and rear..so it's up to you

So I've received my 2 plus 1's today that I've ordered from my local store (one front and one rear). The front buzz bar is perfect however the rear I'm going to have to return.
If I removed the Allen bolts from the bottom to install the snag convertors they are too long and ugly for my liking so I have installed them into my bank sticks. The problem is the front buzz bar has Allen bolts from both sides so when the lower one is removed it's still intact. The rear buzz bar unfortunately doesn't have the internal Allen bolt so they are no longer fixed in place.
I'm not sure if I'm unlucky and the rear bar hasn't finished being manufactured or if that's the way they are, the reason I'm unsure id it's for flats both sides which would indicate the intention to fit an Allen bolt. I'm just not sure if I'm going to order another front buzz bar as I know that will work, if I can confirm the rears not finished correctly then I can order another rear bar.

Ah. I see what you mean now. I just leave the snag adapters fitted all the time. Maybe you could source a little black cap as a cover and then leave them fitted? I'm guessing spraying them black might cause issues?

Ive used jag prolite since it came out, i lost my first prolite grey set of 3 rod buzz bars, i bought the black set of fixed bars but even the narrowest is to wide for my liking. It seems like the only way to get a narrow 3 rod buzz bar is to get these but i really dislike the look of them. It seems worlds away from the style of how the prolite looked when it started.
Anyone know why they dont make a more narrow fixed 3 rod buzz bar anymore?

So I spoke to JAG it's turns out that my front buzz bar is an old one and the rear a new revised one.
The old has x4 Allen bolts/grub screws ...the new has x2 (lower/outside). I asked JAG regards to a shorter snag adapter they said maybe in the future.
So I'm going to cut down my existing snag adapters and for the thread protector's to finish them off.
