Looking for some new rods for mid-long range fishing in large UK pits and France trips (hopefully). Been looking at the Tacklebox CFX range in 12ft 3.5lb and was wondering how they perform? The weave looks quite pronounced in the pictures a bit like the lower end of the market Free Spirits. Do they look like low end rods in the flesh? At around £180 per rod, they come up against some decent contenders such as Aircurves and Free Sprirt E class. Are they a better option than those?
Don't know about the cfx rods but the free spirit ctx rods are great for the money 👍

Know it's not what you're really asking, but if it helps the Free Spirit CTX are superb. I was put off buying them initially as the weave looks a bit pronounced/odd in the promo pics, but they're actually stunning in the flesh.
I've got the 12ft 3.25lb corks and they're a good all rounder - can hit 120 at a push with 15lb Syncro XT (and I'm by no means a good caster) but equally they're fine for close range work.
Have heard the 3.5lbs are a bit pokey but that's based on what others have said.
Had a Tackle Box 10ft CFX and it was lovely. Don't think you'd go wrong with either 👍🏻

What tc cfx's did you have, I'm thinking about getting a set of 10ft rods and was looking at them but don't want a set of broom handles. The problem is I live about 250 miles from them so going to have a play with them is out of the question.

It was the spod/marker rod so can't offer much useful comment I'm afraid - but it was beautifully finished and a lovely blank if that helps, so if the normal rods are the same I'm sure you'd be chuffed with them 👍🏻

Yeah the cfx 10ft rods are great I have one of their 10ft spod rods and find it great only thing I found was the handle length was to short for my liking . I had the tacklebox move the reel seat up so the handle length was the same length as the mk2 shrink scopes as that has a decent handle length

I use Tacklebox cf-x rods, albeit in 3.25 TC. Lovely rods, nice to play fish on, and as such, I would not classify them as out and out casting rods, but easy to hit 100-120m(I'm not a big caster). The weave is down to the permadure finish. Buy with confidence.

Ive got 10 footers, 3.25 and they are awesome fun rod , had some big fish on them too, very pleased with them, lifetime warrenty too.

I messaged them through FB, and they were really helpful. They arranged for someone to phone me back as they are crazy busy with mail order...luckily it turned out to be Gary, the man that actually developed and designed the rods.

the 12 foot 3.5lb are built to the same action as freespirit xsives so they are a long range rod.
the 3.25lb is a all rounder
the continential as easy to use long range rods with the same action as bruce ashby invaders.
I have a set of 13 foot continentials and they are easy to cast with I am not great caster but can get 140 yards with them without breaking myself
I also have the 10 foot set which I use 90% of the time they are lovely to play fish on and good for ranges to about 80 or 90 yards

Got the 12 ft spod rod. Could not be happier. Lot of rod for the money. Light, crisp and powerful. Looks good too.
Bought a set of 3 12ft CFX's today after speaking with Gary Peet for about an hour. What a generous guy with his time. Very knowledgeable and put me at ease knowing I've got a set that fits just what I need.

fold friendly is when to fold the rod the first ring on the top section sits on the butt ring so the tip ring does not touch the floor.
it depends how you store your rods some people fold their rod with the tip down, myself I have the butt and tip up so it does not matter for me.
if you get them you are getting a lot of rod for the money, Gary Peet knows his stuff when it comes to rods and has a lot of input into the free spirit rods when they are being designed when Simone Bond started up

It's a spod rod rod I'm after andy, I doubt a 3.25 would last long chucking a large spomb

The tacklebox spod rod will do what you are after easily,I could not justify 300 on a spod rod and I'm glad I didn't.I had the black edition as it matches my aviators,it's so easy to use and puts a spomb out at range with ease

I'm not at all fussed with the look of a spod rod, but I'd prefer 40mm ringing if it's not a huge jump in price
