Chuboutkasts are a great rob in that price range.
I used them for year until upgrading to my TE's for a larger water.
Still use my 2.75 outcast on small waters - wonderful rods

Thanks for recommendation on the Outcasts. I do like Chub as a manufacturer, have a few bits of luggage and bivy. I do believe my stalking rod is a Chubb rod, so should of thought to check what Chub had on offer.

Shimano tx2's are under £80. The 13ft intensity rods are good for 35-40 wraps with a good technique - this is with 12lb .33 line and a tapered leader. Want a lighter rod that can still hit the horizon? The 3lb 13ft foot model isn't far off the intensity model for range.

Problem I'm now having is finding the Shimano tx2s in any multiples to purchase at right tc. Can find 1 rod. Production could be low due to epidemic or they have stopped making them.
Been looking online at the Avid traction pro 12ft 3.5lb. I like a plain looking blank, that looks custom, avid has the 1K weave and that effect which makes them budget looking, in my mind. Anyone got an Avid Traction rod? marketing is all Avid, can't find independent review.

I had a look at the range of avid rods that the new traction's replaced, can't remember the name. The build quality was sh*te. Personally I would not bother with any Avid kit. The bivvy I had was a piece of junk too, mozzy mesh was made of plastic and split and the brass peg eyes fell out one by one.

You seem to know your tx2s. After a good look at a number of rods in this price range. I think the Tx2 are the ones for me.
I have a quandary through, tx2 3Ib tc or the intensity ( which I think might be 3.75Ib). Little confused, as some retailers market the intensity as 3.5Ib and the retailer I'm looking to purchase from, markets the 13ft as 3 or 3.75Ib tc, only to ref ‘intensity' in the description option of the range. Shimano website spec doesn't say, just uses the ref int for the intensity.
I do not have big pit reels; have Shimano 100000xte super baitrunners (older silver type), just love them. So matching them with the intensity might not be the best match and get the benefit from the rod. Would the 3Ib tc be better. Would like to fish at 80 yards plus a bit. Any guidance, not having used more the 2.75Ib tc rods before.

If you're only fishing out to around 80 yards then, although I've never held a tx2, I'd be looking at a 2.75lb t/c up to an absolute max of 3lb.

Depends on your casting obviously and I don't fish with such gear, you'll be looking at 150yrd+ if you can compress the rod I'd have thought. I'm sure some would be able to put a baited rig far, far further.

I'll be getting the tx2 myself and fishing up to 100yards with the odd bigger chuck. I'll be getting 2 at 3lb tc and one at 3.25tc for solid bags

To close this thread. Purchased Shimano TX2 12ft 3.25Ib tc. Thanks to all those that input. Now need to get to the banks and give them a try.
