I am thinking of getting a 4k or similar camera for a bit of filming.
Not necessarily for fishing.
Don't want to spend go pro money but more the 50 to 70 quid mark as it's not something I would be doing a lot of.
Any recommendations.

To be honest mate you're not going to get a camera that films 4K for that price even if a Chinese copy may say it does. You're better off picking up a half decent 1080p camera. The problem with filming in 4K is that you need a reasonably powerful pc/laptop to edit it. I film a bit in 2.7k and that makes my laptop work.

I would never buy another Gopro camera again !
I went on a months holiday in the Philippines and my gopro got red hot and burnt out same happened to the previous one I had
so I bought a SJCam sj6 legend locally and its been faultless amazing is not exaggerating ! its not cheap but in comparison to the Gopro it is !! there are new models out now but I cant comment on them checkout youtube vids on action cameras
I went back again for another month used most days in proper tropical conditions went island hopping salt water over it most days just brilliant my girlfriends brother had a gopro and we filmed similar things as we were all together and he was amazed at how much better my footage was

so I bought a SJCam sj6 legend
I have been using two SJCam 4000's for a number of years now. They have been brilliant.
(I run them using big memory cards and an external power supply - they will record for 9 hours)
That said, you have to be careful you get the pukka SJCam cameras as fakes abound.

Well I didn't know that.
I do know you had to be careful when buying one to ensure you had a legit one. The difference between that and a fake was really wide. The SJ4000 (like all SJCams I have seen) is superb.

yes apparently the SJCam SJ8 PRO is amazing and is better performing and half the cost of the Go-pro 6 equivalent

Thanks, the SJCam sj6 looks pretty good.
Will do a comparison with the 8 pro and see what the differences are.

GoPro have got a store on ebay which sells refub cameras, all come with a proper warranty etc, worth a look.

That's what I've got. Seems to have ironed a lot of the faults of previous models out and works a treat.
Battery is still pants, you need a spare.
I wouldn't use it for fishing though, lacks the soul of a proper camera and I'd rather ignite my own pubes than do a vlog

I'm contemplating getting one for my motorbike. They are doing the 7 for £220, that's just the camera though I believe

Not sure on an accurate run time, about an hour per charge at a guess. It's usually operated by a 3 1/2 year old with the ability to recording up to the point we want to film and then stopping it so we have hours of floor and pocket footage, I'd put my foot down but he's freakishly strong
Used it on bikes and stuff, well worth the money for that as stabilisation is brilliant.

Fancying the 8 deal but being a tight git I don't want to shell out, still trying to convince myself that shelling out £320 plus another £100 for other bits it's the right thing to do, can't be!

At the moment I don't think the GoPro is up to the standard of budget end video cameras. I have got one of these (LINK) and it is superb. Superseded by the AX53 model but the differences are minimal.
