I have the SJ9 in olive and it's a bloody awesome jacket! I'm sure the 6 is superb as well......

That's that then I'll be ordering one today,didnt really need one but wanted one for a while!
Just a word of caution. I love mine but in case you weren't aware they're NOT waterproof , and don't claim to be. I was however suprised at just how quickly water soaks into them , and once wet they take an age to dry as i found to my cost last winter.

I keep looking at these for a while and now im going on a bit I feel the cold more. Been told that the sizes are all over the place ? Im 5,10 and just under 13 stone would a large be right. The only thing puts me off is not waterproof as I do bit of piking as well. They got marine jacket to go over the top

Mine came up a bit snug so if you can get to somewhere that has them in stock to try on i would.

Really warm and wind proof, but are not waterproof. Vass do a jacket called team Winter W175 which is water proof, but not as warm. But made well and when worn with a few layers underneath is great.

I have the fortis version that is slightly longer in the body so covers your ass a bit more but if the sizing is the same on both versions I would personally go a size down to what you would normally take.

To be fair, i have the sj9 in dpm and cant fault it really is the nuts, can feel the warmth as soon as you put it on, however i really didnt know it was not waterproof

They are mega, be lost without mine. fell asleep a fair few times on top of the bag in winter their that warm!

Ive had an SJ3 and SJ9 since they came out they are brilliant bits of kit, I ted to wear the SJ3 the vast majority of time with layers and the SJ9 with just a t shirt as you really don't need anything else - VERY WARM and does what it says on the Tim
I would add the sizing is a bit odd though as an example my sj3 is a xl and is roomy and the SJ9 is a xxl and fits the same as the xl sj3 so try before you buy

If you don't want DPM go straight to the source and get a Snugpak Sasquatch or Sleeka, got both and use the sasquatch from December to March and sleeka for rest of time.
i wear a goretex over the top in wet weather but have never had a problem drying out anyway.
Had the sasquatch 2 years, sleeka for 4 and bib and brace for 15 years great quality, never wear more than a t-shirt/ polo shirt and sometimes a hoody underneath jackets and lightweights under bib and brace and that's it.

SJ6 is simply brilliant. haven't tried the 9.

Is there any difference between the Fortis sj3 and the standard sj3.. the sj6 by Fortis seems to suggest it has longer arms than standard, is the same true for the sj3?

Fantastic coats. Light, windproof and extremely warm, yet still hard-wearing. I've got the Fortis version and the length in the body and arms is great. Proper top-notch clothing for the winter months.
The Mrs borrowed it once last winter to take the dogs out at 6am, and every day after. I'll get her one for Christmas as I'm sick of finding my pockets full of dog biscuits.
I wear a thin goretex army shell over the top in the rain, which works well.

I have an SJ9 and it is an unreal bit of kit. Loads of others in my club have it. None of them went for the SJ3 or 6. Be interested to hear peoples opinions on them

Ive had a SJ3 and SJ6 - the 3 is ideal spring, summer even autumn and the SJ6 ideal for winter the sj9 as I understand is similar to the 6 but longer cut at the back

I've the sj6, and wish I had gone for the sj9, both great jackets, same style but obviously the sj9 is heavier and warmer, a much better choice for a winter jacket.

Don't see point in these new tundra personally, would much prefer an SJ6 and waterproof over the top so you can take the wet layer off but still retain the insulation when you get back in your bivvy etc

I have the sj9 and love it . Keeps the wind out , lovely cut and comfy . Best of all it's breathable and I don't sweat 👌

If the SJ9 is much warmer than the SJ6, then that would mean you'd have to take something off before putting it on, and put something on when taking it off. That seems an unwarranted faff. Easier with the (less warm) SJ6.
I'll be out tomorrow at 7 am and will wear a thermal base with a fleece top until I've set up, then put the kettle on, and the SJ6, for the rest of the day until I pack up and take the coat off.
If the coat were any warmer, I'd set up, take my fleece top off, put on my super-hot coat until such times that I'd take off the coat, feel bloody freezing, spend ages looking for the fleece I took off in the morning etc...

Well, been using mine, the 9 version, super warm, very nice jacket other than one thing for me, the hood, cut a bit short, just wish it was a bit longer and had a peak, saying that I'm used to wearing Rab jackets so expect that as the norm
I have the sj6 and find it perfect. It's a fantastic coat that I would buy again if needed
