Can anyone recommend a decent cool bag to fit food for 3 days, needs to be large! With pockets for other stuff like cutlery and under 50quid, dont care about brand. Ta

Ive got the avid tuned coolbag it does the job great for me with a couple of freezer blocks in it, unsure if they still make them but i think they are around 40 quid

I don't entirely agree. A cool bag in the heat of summer will do you two nights, a 2 kilo bag of ICE will last 36 hours. A cool box will Keep ice for 48 plus hours so yes cool box with he intent of doing a few days else a cool bag will happily do 48 hours. Don't forget food can reach room temp for 8 hours preferably 4 and arguably for 12 hours.

Ah that's way over budget...I have bought acheap ngt insulated bag only £16 posted will give that a go even if it only lasts 6 months lol like you say its winter so doesnt need to be amazing

I actually have a tackle bits bag from ngt from this range that I have had now about 5 years and it's been great, thought the zip would break in 5 mins but didnt hopefully this will last too. Bought the bedchaur bag as well so I can keep the bed chair made up with sleeping bag in and not get wet and muddy in transit this time of year. Also keep bugs out my bag in the garage lol

Easily,I really rate it.The shoulder strap is very comfy and the insulation is really thick on it.The zip really seals it shut well,I used 3 bottles of frozen flavoured water to cool mine.When I packed up on the Sunday the bottle at the bottom still had ice in half the bottle

Without wishing to start a mass debate I personally think the Korda Cooler is the best on the market at the moment for a relatively compact bag. Used with a couple of good quality ice blocks I have had food still chilled in mine after 4 days.
my mate used his for a 7 day session in the heatwave a couple of weeks ago. We topped it up with a bag of ice from the supermarket when I joined him on the Thursday and there were still solid chunks left when we packed up on the Sunday.
Excellent bit of kit.

Bare with me, for those mentioning coolboxes, a tip, if you find the lid or sides are hollow (common, even with Thermos) drill regularly spaced holes in the outer skin and use canned expanding foam to fill the air gap. You can turn even the cheapest cool box into one that out performs a named brand, if you can be bothered.

How can they be utter crap? Pop an ice pack in the flap and they'll keep things cool for several days. They're made really well, better than anything I have seen so far and they are very practical. 'Used' no, but looked one over in the tackle shop, yes. Seemed very good, but it doesn't offer the same flexibility of the Cotswold system and I would maintain, until you've used something for a while, hard to say if it'll go the distance. Korda gear does have a reputation for looking great and then falling short after extended use, they then bring out a mk2

Have used both so yes I can compare,the cotswold did not keep things cold at all compared to the korda.The level of insulation on the korda is over double of that in the CA.This is korda's first time doing luggage and I can't think of anything they have done a mk2 of.I owned all CA gear and it is not worth the money imo,speero is better quality and half the price.My CA rhino carryall faded after only a few uses my speero is still like new and been out in all weather's.

I respect your opinion, just wanted to understand it, that's all... I've had no issues whatsoever with the insulating properties, none. I put a large ice block in the flap and even two days later it's often not melted down. Contents stay chilled for several days using them. When pike fishing down at Chew Valley for a few days, I've managed to keep deadbaits frozen for the entire trip. They're really well made and I like the way the whole system can be interchanged to suit. May be the way I am using them works better than others? No idea, but I think they're great. Thanks for explaining by the way, appreciate it

Sorry for posting On a old thread. The sonik sk tek is bang on. Loads of room for food and drink. Plus a divider so you can put your kettle and mug and stove etc. Also has a compartment on the lid to put your ridgemonkey or frying pan.

They way you use it? Pack it as tightly as possible with frozen stuff and open as little as possible? Not sure there's a better way than that Tbh which is what I do. It's a cool bag, Hardly need a degree to operate one ...

I'm currently on the bank with the Speero large modular cool bag, frozen food has been in there since 7am along with ice packs and still rock solid. Now if it'd been my CA one or Fox, everything would have defrosted by now!

Ive just bought a dometic 22 litre cool box and looks really well made and gets great reviews. Its the same price as the korda one but solid plastic with heavy duty clamps so should last for years. I couldnt trust the korda one being material with a zip. The zips on my compac pouches last a month before they broke. Great carpy colour as well its the same colour as the korda one. Was going to get an icey tec but sold out everywhere and they look a little to bulky. I did by a icey tec gel pack for my dometic though. The dometic one must be quite popular as they had 7 left two days then the following day was down to last one so bought it before they sold out.

Ive got a couple of speero cool bags but nothing beats a proper cool box for keeping things cold. Just added a speero barrow carryall to my collection which came today, thats also the perfect size and not to big. Thats my speero collection complete now.

Reading this thread for the first time on a 2 nighter....while looking at my 12 quid tesco special with 8 semi & almost melted ice packs in it. I'm 28hrs in! I currently fear for my beer.
Perhaps i need an upgrade of a paperbag!
But. I do have an igloo box for pike & cat deadbait. Great kit and if mine did not smell like a dead hooker in a heat wave i would use it for food. Works great in summer. Had it for 5/6yrs at least. If you need a small box its good.
Back to my coolbox issue. Do i throw a few quid at Danny for his next holiday or does anyone else rave about the s-tek?

No surprise to me, they work great. I use them in black (non insulated) for my tools too and the boxes are indestructible. Sit or stand on it no problem.

In my point of view is the best because they have articles related to backpacks and they may recommend you the best option and on top of that they have a review section where you can read other's experience. Try to go on their site and for sure you will discover something suitable for you.

However quite often those reviews are posted on receiving the product and have no real basis on how the product performs, just how it looks or on their service with that retailer.
That said there can be the odd review that is useful but very few in my experience.

I can confirm the Hi-Gear Self Inflating 20L Cooler works incredibly well its a sorta cross between a cool bag and a cool box ideal for 24 to 48 hour sessions
