I've been looking for a taller bivvy for a while, I had a bad accident last year and damaged my back. I want a bivvy that I dont have to bend over as much (I'm 6ft3)

Only bivvy I can find is the fox r series xl bivvy, I got a trakker slx v3 at the minute but it's to low down.

Anyone used the fox xl bivvy?

I have the 2 man Chub Cyfish Dome, which is very spacious and quite tall.
Totally weatherproof and rock solid.
The standard Cyfish ( not Dome ) is very similar, but without the sealed inner capsule, if that's what you prefer.
Had the Dome a couple of years now and hard pressed to see where it could be improved, cracking bit of kit.
The one man is also generoulsy sized, more like a 1.5....

Perfect I do like the camo one, looks a good size in the videos but not many reviews online for it so hard judge. It does look perfect though for what I want and need

Was discussed in a recent thread and I bought one. Haven't had on the bank yet but had it up in the garden. Proper chuffed with it, very spacious and has a decent inner dome design. There was literally nowhere around to view one (in a tackle shop) so I just pulled the trigger on one. Glad I did!

Weight isn't a problem I do alot of body building bud it's just the bending over getting in and out of the bivvy thats the problem and being crouched over on a chair inside if its raining at the end of the weekend my back is seriously killing me

Thanks for the link bud, was it as big as it seems in the video? It looks a very decent size, just dont want to be crouching over as much that's all. Yeah I have nowhere to view it either which is always my problem I have nothing near me for that.

I'm just shy of 6ft and I can nearly walk into it, but inside it's proper roomy. Sure you'll be happy with it, that was partly the reason I went for the bivvy too, tired of feeling ‘cramped'. Definitely won't have that problem with this bivvy.

Yeah aot of them these days are getting smaller, dont get ne wrong I prefer the smaller, compact and easier to put up bivvies but with my back it would be easier to get a taller one. Tbh I'm not 100% going to get one yet just seeing just as I get older I no I'll need it mate

I wouldnt agree with the old bit tho not yet hahaha

1 man is plenty big enough for all the kit for a week Imo

I reckon 2 man only if you have 2 needing to get bedchairs length ways

I am really getting on now and used brollies for all my fishing career.

Treated myself to a Tempest V1 when the first came out. Love it, but as the years go on. I too am struggling with my back using these low shelters and low bedchairs. 72 hour sessions are playing havoc with my back.

I can see myself in the not to distant future looking for something taller.

I'm really hopeing Trakker will see a market for a taller Tempest.

What sort of problems you having buddy? One thing I noted was to connect the support poles from the front of the bivvy to the back as doing the other way round makes it impossible to extend the central bar.. unless you're 7ft tall!

Other than that I didn't have any problems. I opted for the inner dome so spent a while getting that all attached, now I just simply have to unzip the ground mat, remove support poles and pegs and fold up 👍🏻

Just trying to figure out the link to the pics I have, basically mate I rolled out the bivvy and managed to assemble the front two sections ok but the back section left me with an impossible angle to try to slot together If i can work out the picture insert i'll show you what I mean.

Pretty sure it's my inability to do it but f*ck me it seems impossible

Found it very easy buddy, basically rolled out the bivvy started from the right attached the front then middle then back In, then moved to the next one on my left basically right to left. Then put the support bars in place starting from the front found it very easy bud, it's just like any 3 rib bivvy really

Struggled and struggled with similar issues and in the end returned it and got my self a Trakker but...............It was me all along, doing some reading I read that waxing the male spigot can help and it done the trick, simply get a candle and rub the spigot with the candle, the wax from the candle makes a world of difference and I no longer have any issues with pram type bivvies using this method....

Weird... the only problem I've had is forgetting to attach the centre pole before pegging out. Aside from that I've had no problems setting up.

If it helps I do this:

Peg each side of the bivvy, peg the front of bivvy at door and then peg the back two and move round the rest.

Hi all, Im hoping I can get your view on the Fox R Series 2 man XL. Im an experienced angler but havent been on serious night fishing trips since I was in my teens and twenties (Im now in my forties).
Im looking to buy the R Series 2 man XL for my own use when solo night fishing at local fisheries but I also so I have the option to can take my daughter fishing when the weather is good. She enjoys it and we will be using it alot for this aswell so it wont just be a one off.
Question is this... Is the 2 man XL version too big for a solo trip and is the 1 man version big enough for a large person and a child (age is 12) or do I go for the 2 man XL and use if for both my solo trips and family fishing trips?
Also, side question, does the 2 man XL version fit on most night fishing pegs ok or is it just too big for everything?

P.s please dont recommend other makes/types of bivvies as its taken me ages to decide on the Fox R series XL as I need the head room. Im just looking for advice on the 1/2 man version. Thanks again.

I think the 1 Man may do you, I've not seen a 2-Man in the flesh but judging from the size of the 1-Man it must be humongous! I'd say that the 1-Man is more of a small 2-Man bivvy.

Comes down to how much space you want/need and how frequently it'll be used to fit in the pair of you. The 2-Man will definitely fit the pair of you but do you want to have a giant bivvy every time you go solo, I know I wouldn't.

Also doubt between some bivvies (also need +160 head room because bad back)

Saw along the canal today the Fox r series 1 man xl camo, it's a very nice bivvy to see but not able to look close because of corona rules

330 x 315 x 185 for solo trips is big to big imo, because my son or daughter also goes fishing sometimes I am looking for a bivvy that is just slightly bigger than the Fox r 1 man xl 1 man but smaller than the 2 man version, hope fox also comes with a porch like Jrc has.


other options that I have (still have 5 days to decide):
-4success Hardshell Panorama2 namiot karpiowy

it is not easy to find a high bivvy that is not + 300cm wide / deep

Update!

I actually ended up buying BOTH the one man and two man Fox R-Series XL (to considerable cost) and I can say this...
As much as the two man is a very generous size bivvy it isnt too big for a fishery that encourages night fishing, Ive managed to fit it onto medium sized pegs without issue. I wouldnt use it for a day fishery that isnt used to night anglers though. Im sure you know what I mean by this.

The one man version is no where near big enough to accommodate my bedchair and a 12 y/o child as well as store away my fishing bags etc. I would say the one man versions footprint is no bigger than a normal one man bivvy with the only exception being its height because of the increased headroom.

So in summary and alot of cost (as I had to buy both to find this out) the one man is for one person (surprise surprise) and the two man, even though it is very roomy, isnt so big its ridiculous.

Also, I can erect both sizes without issue on my own however the two man takes a little longer.

On a side note, they are really really good bivvies, well made. I recently used the two man in a thunder storm and it held up very well.

I recently bought this bivvy with the wrap.
Firstly, It was great for the extra room, and for longer sessions I will use it every time.

But... I tried it out during the storm the other week, i fished a pretty muddy and lopsided swim, and found it impossible to get pegs in deep enough at the front where the ground went downhill a bit.
As for the wrap, I couldn't even use it.

Basically, the frame, and/or peg holes seems very tight, other bivvys have a few peg hole options on the front so you can select one depending on the ground, but not this one.

Have you found this bivvy must have a properly flat area?

Hi there, just bought this bivvy although a little confused. It comes with 3 door options although doesn't appear to be an option to have all 3 on at once (unlike my old bivvy). Is the purpose to change them over during the course of a session depending on what you want? Also the inner dome has a ground sheet as does the bivvy (with two clips on the bivvy to clip each in). Is the purpose to each time unzip the ground sheet from inner dome and then un clip the other ground sheet? Thank you. Liam

You can only use one door at a time. My preference is the clear door, second would be the solid door, but your choice.
Groundsheets. Again your choice. When I use the bivvy without the inner dome l clip in the full groundsheet. If using the inner dome you can just use the groundsheet with that, but it has to be toggled in. Using both ground sheets is a choice, but I would usually use both unless the ground is clean and dry.
Final thing; you can leave the inner dome toggled in but you must unzip the groundsheet from it to be able to pack it away.

I'm having the same problem. It's like wrestling a giant octopus bloody exhausting. Has anyone worked out the knack/ technique for undoing the poles. It shouldn't be this difficult. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong.

So long as the tension straps at either end are loosened, I've not had a problem. Just a bit of pressure and pull apart.
