Right I'm fed up with carrying around a heavy bivvy then taking ages setting it up so I'm looking at something smaller, lighter and easier to set up

I'm either going to get the trakker v2 bivvy system which I must say I do like with all the extra vents
Or the
Trakker v2 tempest brolly which obviously is £300+ cheaper

Is the v2 bivvy system worth the extra or am I better of just buying the brolly instead? This year I was roasting on my lake so I do like the idea of the vents on the bivvy but just torn deciding if it's worth the extra money

Why not think about getting the brolly plus a utility front that would cover both summer and winter, the bivvy system is slightly bigger with a better grade of material. If you get the bivvy system I would recommend getting a skull cap to help with condensation and provide a nominal peak.

I was in the same boat. Thought long and hard about it, had a look at both set up and decided on the brolly with the infill panel. Very impressed with it so far, my only nagging doubt is if we have a summer like this year then the vents would have been nice to have. Other than that it's a massive thumbs up for the brolly

May be worth looking at the Nash hide xl coming out as has rear vents.

If I was in your shoes, I'd order a V2 brolly and have it delivered straight to Army Andy to put rear vents in. It'll all be boxed up nicely for him, in clean condition and you'll only have to pay the return postage from Andy. Buy whatever extras you require for it, ie skull cap, overwrap, utility front etc. Will still be loads cheaper than the full v2 system. Personally I prefer the nylon material over Aquatex too, it's lighter inside, lighter in weight, dries faster and is plenty waterproof enough.
I've had the original brolly for the fat end of 4 years now, with a skull cap, full overwrap and Army Andy full infil and mozzie infil. Ok, I know if you add that lot up, it's not cheap, but I've bought it all in stages, as there's no way I could afford the full system in one go. Over the winter, I'm going to have rear vents put in, cos this summer was a killer in the heat.

See I do really like the brolly n getting the extras in stages does make it easier so that is a big plus point.

Now exactly how much can you get in it? I don't take loads and my bedchair is the trakker flat six superlite so that's not big either (trying to cut every thing down ) just don't want it to be to small inside. Some videos they look very spacious but others look pretty small so I'm a bit confused.

Yes the rear vents would make things a lot easier in the summer which was why I was considering the full system I don't thing I could of copped this summer without them, my lake has a lot of trees and shade just not near the pegs lol

Sorry mate the Titan hide is well out of the question heard nothing but bad things about the smaller one and everything I've ever owned that was Nash has broke on me apart from my siren r3 alarms can't fault them

I love mine and find that there is plenty of room, if you push your bed right back there's loads and you can still get a bag behind your bed at the back. The skull cap makes quite a difference in terms of offering a peak and more coverage when it rains, a V1 skull cap fits perfectly and is a lot cheaper than the V2 cap, its just a different shade of green.

I've not done any longer than 3 nights in mine but it is perfectly fine for that. I leave most of my stuff on my barrow and keep the essentials in the bivvy but there is plenty of room. I've always been a brolly man but I don't think I'll ever go back, the Tempest is more compact to carry, is no heavier, gives much better coverage and is as easy to put up. I've had mine out in some serious winds and it was rock solid, much more so than a brolly. Vents would be good on the hottest of days but aren't essential.

Plenty of room inside for bed, bags etc. I have done 3 nights in mine no problem

One thing worth mentioning, the v2 brolly is low. Lower than the v1. I got on well with my v1 and had an army Andy front made. When the v2 came out I upgraded because of the amount of accessories available. It was a mistake. Where I used to sit on my bedchair fine under the v1, on the v2 I scrape my head. I'm now currently using the v2 bivvy system and it is definitely my favourite of the 3. If anyone wants a v2 brolly genuinely used once with all the accessories give me a shout.

depending on ho low it is for you, cant you just tie a knot/knots in the tension strap then peg it

Yes but no good if using a ground sheet.

How tall are you bud I'm 6ft 3 so don't want to be having to worry about banging my head.

As for the v2 air for me it's either the bivvy system because of the vents which makes life a lot easier or the brolly, only because if I'm not getting the vents which is the only reason I'd get bivvy system and extra size then why look further than the brolly tbh and from what I'm led to believe on the air v2 the front panel is not zip in?

My v2 bivvy went back twice it was supposedly qc checked and had faults.Heat seal on pegging points pealing off pin holes above the door when put slight bit of tension on storm poles.I ended up returning and got money back.I have the v2 brolly and it has been superb I take a lot of gear and fit it in no problem I have the trakker els bed and have plenty of room in it

No I haven't but I have seen first hand the problems on some other people's. One in particular that has stood out to me was the stitching around the door. It seemed like the front was too tight and the stitching was pulling apart. So much so that you could see daylight all around the door. Was the first thing I checked when I got mine. There have defo been some issues with them over time, whether or not that is still the case I don't know. I have 2 mates who also have the v2 bivvy and they too have no issues.

If you decide on buying one just give it a good once over when you get it.

That is what was happening to mine my mate had massive issues with his he got rid went to the m3 but has now gone back to the v2 bivvy and so far so good

Braders1978 see the brolly was another option but hard to tell how much I could get in there, I don't take loads of stuff just hard to tell, plus the height of it was a worry.

Vossy1 yeah I had a look at army andys but the material on vents don't match the colour of the bivvy looks a bit silly really and tbh it's £90 plus postage just for the rear vents (messaged him) if it's going to cost all that might aswell pay the bit extra n get it done right by trakker.

Monstamunch I think I will be getting the bivvy system so will be giving a very good once over when it arrives, like you say with the problems hopefully they got them sorted now and don't have them anymore. Time will tell

Exactly what happens to mine... I checked it all over when I got it and it looked fine, But when I put it up under tension I had the same issue, within 3 days the stiitching had all stretched and you could see day light through it, then it rained and was letting the water through too, Also over the space of a week it had faded so badly that the mozzie window covers were a completely different colour, I returned it to Trakker who told me after 2 weeks they repaired the stitching but the fading was normal, I then got the bivvy back in what can only be described as half a box, The stitching looked like it had been done by a 5yr old, They had basically pulled over the fabric and stitched over the top, To say it was shocking would be an understatement and they had also torn the zip away from the top part too, I sent them pictures and they flatly denied they had done such a bad job and that I had done it myself, Anyway they sent me a load of free clothing to keep the bivvy but I sent it back and got a full credit note.....
Its a shame really as I think design wise it's the best bivvy out there imo but it's just let down by terrible build quality

Now I do have the Tempest V1 Brolly and I can honestly say I am over the moon with it, No dodgy stitching or fabric pulling, Goes up and down in literally seconds and dries out much quicker than the V2 bivvy
It's pretty much all I use in the uk now, If the V2 Brolly is as good as the V1 which it seems to be then that would be my choice, As already said you can get loads of extras for it to cover any situation, If vents are a must then you can always get them fitted too
It's also a lot cheaper than the bivvy.....

I would not swap my v2 brolly for the bivvy if I'm honest about it

I had the v1 brolly and really liked it apart from the fact that it was too low when using a bedchair buddy. I fancied getting the v2 bivvy system but was put off for a long time by reports (on here) of the QC not being great. I eventually messaged Trakker and they said yes, they'd had some QC issues but these had all been sorted now. Anyway next time they came in stock at my local shop I took the plunge and ........I haven't had a single issue with it and really like it, bearing in mind I also own a Union Jack M3 (which doesn't get used anymore) so the bar was set pretty high.

Ideal mate sounds good to me, I expect some fading over time but from some reports they said there's faded way to quickly which I didn't want

Hi guys can anyone tell me the difference between the the v2 advanced brolly and the v2 bivvy system as they are virtually the same price, the only difference i can see is the advanced has 4 vents and the bivvy 2 but the advanced is slightly dearer?

The advanced brolly is also smaller than the v2 bivvy system the advanced brolly is the same size as the cheaper v2 tempest brolly

The V2 bivvy is being replaced by the tempest 100/100t/150, so there are some good deals to be had on the v2 bivvy. Ive seen them for around 400 quid with a discount code
