Hi ...
Going to fish Stanwick in a couple of weeks, most likely Mallard.
Any advice or information.
Have had a look at the Facebook page but not a lot of advice...plenty of pictures though !!

You really won't need any advice mate it's absolutely chokka - full of carp!
Find some fish (not hard, it's only a little water) and bait a spot. Plenty of clear towards the middle. Put two rigs on it and await the action. If that doesn't work switch to zigs.
Keep your eyes on the margins too. Some swims are very close together so three rods can be too much imo. A third rod chucked down the edge can't hurt though.
The swims either side of the reeds in the north east corner tend to be fantastic but they can all do hits tbh.

Nope, couldn't have been much better conditions. Had fish all over me the last night and all I managed was 2 tiny eels. It was odd

I fished it earlier thsi year. Yonny gave me the same advice and it worked a treat for me.
It was baking hot when we went and i did everything on Zigs at 7 foot
Agree with the pike as well in there - had one smash my marker float in the edge and saw loads swimming in margins.

D.N.A baits just put a video on you tube might be able get some ideas from that

We are going Sunday to Tuesday, hopefully a few will be off sunday afternoon...If not we will have to drop in somewhere and move when something comes free.

should always get a bite or two on mallard
if you can find a clean spot then you should get a few, it will be weedy this time of year, especially at the end which backs onto elsons/
They do love a floater and 6-7ft zigs in there if it is warm
do not forget the margins either !

Old post I know but what is the place like in winter I've never been before. Do the fish move around in milder weather or stay in certain areas. Not sure how deep it is, is it worth staying on the bottom baits or are zigs the one. Thanks for any help

Ive only been once in may I think.
But I would confidently say with the shape of the lake, depth, clarity of water and stock it will be pretty easy to find them.
After that singles or Zigs would be my first port of call.

Regards swims lets just hope you get one.
Swan for pasties. Very, very easy water,
Mallard for runs. Easy water.
See post 3 for tactics buddy.
Elsons is the harder water, it needs to be booked. It holds some proper ones and is far more tricky than Swan/Mallard. Tactics based on what you see on the day.

Fished a swim on elsons that back onto mallard for the first time at the fishery first week in June. Lad on the mallard swim behind me advised never ignore the margins on there if that helps. He had one in 3 days tho fishing 3 rods. One thing I will say that will help u buddy is chat to the bailiffs as they all sound and want everyone to catch and talk to the anglers that are fishing the lake to, don't seem to be a snobby venue and everyone I spoke to was approachable and willing to help👍
