So many online at different prices with different names and all probably made from the same Chinese factory, can anyone recommend a decent cheap bulk spool for fishing large, snaggy pits ?

This is what I use on both my marker & spod reel & would have no hesitation using it as a mainline. A fraction of the price of the carp branded braids

It casts well, no problems at all. I fish it straight through on my marker set up but use a 50lb braid shock leader for my spod set up

been using kastking braid from china for the bast couple of years and its superb for my spodding and long range pike fishing. Works out at about £8 per spool delivered from china and the reviews are v.good

Its easy to do a search on Ebay but you're better off trying to find the tried and tested braid as alot of the cheap braid is weak or like tow rope.

Agreed most I've had is way above stated diameter, spectra? Ok for Spod and marker work..Am also interested in this kastking mainly due to the price and probably only needing it for a couple of weeks usage a year abroad.
Anyone else have any feedback on using this a mainline?

I must have been really lucky as I have had neither problem and on my third spool in about 20 years, so have several friends who have bought it.
I expect all the branded names have their own factory producing braid exclusively for them

never ever had a problem with kastking braid. Used 30lb bs for last year with no probs for long range piking, spod work etc. Just bought 3 x 500m spools for £24 delivered in 40lb for heavy catfish work on a weedy water this summer.

it is more of a flat braid, that floats initially but after use, it sinks slowly if you tighten up with the rod tip under water. As said before, it's stood up to a lot of abuse from me, and I originally just bought a spool for spodding but soon realised its potential as a braided main line.

I used to use whiplash but then I found a tough durable one made by PB products .
I found it a lot more hard wearing .
Takes a bit of time to sink but never had any trouble .
That is until braid was banned 😔

Have you tried the Ridge Monkey RM-Tec braid? Supposed to be good stuff..

The ridge monkey stuff is gash. They had a load of issues and despite trying to bull**** their way our of it had to fully refund a lot of people including a couple of mates of mine.
Their QC is virtually non existent - they buy stuff from china with their name slapped on it and pump it out to customers in the UK at inflated prices.
Look at the debacle with the death trap stoves they released
I wouldn't touch anything they sell with a barge pole.
