I have the Flextail Max Repeller S and struggled with it at first. I was using a thermocell on a gas canister before and was using some cheap pads from Amazon that worked OK with that and were sold under the name ODS.

Those didn't fit the Flextail and one side was so loose it kept sliding out if I moved it. I now have more cheap pads from Amazon but this time branded Ninoclar. Those fit perfectly and I have been leaving them on all night on the green light on the Flextail which is the lower of the two power modes it has.

Outside on the red mode it works well as long as its in sheltered area and not too windy.

I don't get the battery life out of it that they quote and just charge it every day.

Dont bother ive found them useless - also battery doesnt last long and takes ages to charge - gone back to my ever reliable thermacell on old gas bottles.

I spent a bit of time researching these devices - the flextails didn't get great reviews and if memory serves it's due to the temp not being high enough.

The Thermacells are supposed to be the best but as they use gas canisters you can't take them on a plane.

I use a Nitecore which is rechargeable and burns the Thermacell pads - so far it's been good when needed.

Been testing the flextail throughout the summer at home and at a few lakes on the various settings.
Weirdly at home in the garden it made absolutely no difference from being on or off, the mozzi were on me and the actual flextail.
Down the lakes I never got bitten once lol
I tried all 3 settings and at the lake we never got touched but on the strongest setting the battery just lasted the night.
I found the lowest setting ideal for the bivvy and the battery was good for a second night.
The only real negative was you can't charge it and use it at the same time.
Are you sure?
