When I joined up and took the Queens shilling I swore an oath of allegiance to the Queen and her Heirs and Successors, so no need to reaffirm.
What it does though is give you a sense of belonging, of being part of something.
I just look at some of the Republics around like France with the likes of Sarkozi and Macron who think and act like they are royalty, even live in palaces, or across the pond with Biden and Trump fighting for control, both idiots, then look at what we have, and how although it is a constitutional monarchy not an absolute monarchy, it still keeps the politicians in check somewhat.
Oh and the age old ******** of the costs - it has been proven that a President of a Republic costs more to keep.

I'm not a staunch royalist so don't feel the need to pledge allegiance, even if I knew how to. I prefer to have a royal family than not though, it's what makes us different and saves us havening to have prime ministers being head of the country.

We watched the whole thing with a huge sense of pride and a big bubble of emotion that at times welled up.
I bet I am not alone in wishing that the Tories had chosen the Lord President of the Council as leader. She was the only politician that could truly call themselves a statesman:. And did you see the state of Johnson? A disgrace and an insult to the monarchy.
And the returning parade made me hugely proud of my country and its armed forces. Stirring stuff.
You may think this strange from a 100% woke, anti-Brexiteer, but it is quite possible to hold two differing and maybe opposite opinions at the same time!
