What security cameras do you use for your homes?
I'm looking for a set up of maybe 4 or 5 outside cameras facing the front and back of my house that I can view in real time when away from home. Wireless with motion sensors that send notifications when set off would be good.

Not heard of it but couldn't these type of systems be made inoperative but someone with a wifi jammer?

Who knows, but I'm sure someone that has great hacking knowledge will be looking at bigger prizes than my lonely little house.

I use the Nest cameras. Watch it live from your phone and it saves all footage to the cloud for 10 days.

I use the ring video doorbell and the spotlight.
Brilliant bits of kit, so easy to plumb in.
The wildlife captured on camera is amazing, the playback is very clear and bright even at night.
Amazon were doing a massive discount last June on Amazon prime days but I also notice Costco do deals regularly.

Plus one on the ring camera and doorbell brilliant bits of kit and very simple installation
If you want a more hardwired solution have a look at hikvision kits and ip cameras can get app on your phone to view remotely etc and have some brilliant night vision cameras towards the upper price range of there kit but the pictures are second to none!

I couldn't say for sure if the Aldi cameras are any good but the specifications look decent. With regards the hard drive, you keep that indoors connected to a tv or monitor. So very unlikely it will get nicked especially if it is hidden in a cupboard or wardrobe etc.

I've got the Nest cam, great bit of kit, managed to catch a theifing git delivering for Amazon nick the lid off my recycling bin, muppet.

Caught the amazon delivery driver throwing my delivery over the fence. A few moments later I pinged the footage over to amazon and the company who were using amazon to sell and deliver their products.

I have the ring doorbell which is good as it stands. Also have 2 x hikvision cameras, the nightvision on the Hikvisions is excellent. 3 or 4am looks like a daylight recording.
Both Highly recommended.

I second what stowboy said. Hikvision cameras if your DIY'in as there easy to set up online no need for portforwarding can do it all through Hikconnect - I fit them for a living and I prefer to use these as once I've set them up when Internet suppliers change etc I'm not getting phonenecalls saying there broke etc I can talk the customer through on the phone.
The ring doorbell don't go near it unless it's hard wired to the mains and you've got good WiFi Or buy a WiFi booster (20-30quid) from amazon or pc world. All there other stuff is decent too the cameras but they're not cheap. But don't waste your time with battery powered.

What do you recommend for a mid range set up for home security. I'm thinking 6 cameras, but what else do I need to get them all to work, record and set up the system
