Not had the rods out for years but used to do pretty well on my own forgotten recipe boilies. Put a little recipe together but thought I'd post here before ordering ingredients.

25% LT 94
10% squidmeal
5% liver powder
10% lamlac
25% CLO
5% brewers yeast
10% soya
10% semo

30ml liver hydrolysate per kg dry mix

Does this look like an ok starting point for experimenting?

TIA

Looks good but I am no expert.

I would leave out the hydro and use 20 grams fenugreek and 10 grams garlic powder from a supermarket. Don’t buy the fenugreek from a bait supplier.( per kilo dry mix base).

Irish NOR fishmeal instead of LT.

Why would you leave out the hydro? Agreed with the addition of garlic and fenugreek though

Funny you should both say about garlic fenugreek as was debating adding that so will deffo try some with and without to compare

Also wondering reasoning for dropping liver hydro? Would rather swap for fish oil and increase the liver powder but thought with 5% liver powder 5% brewers yeast and 10% lamlac im already about as high as I can go with soluble?

I'd stick with the liver hydro rather than swapping it out for fish, there's not much out there better than liver products for attracting carp

My theory behind dropping the hydros is that can be too many things going on in a bait so to speak. Too many attractors fighting against each other to the point some may be doing more harm than good. Can hydros ruin a good base mix like liquid flavours? Like I said I am no expert but my theories give me confidence and the odd fish.

That bait will catch you plenty of fish just as it is.
If you want to experiment a couple of changes that might improve it, might not are:
Reduce the LT94 by 10% and replace with Krill.
Replace some or all the Lamlac with milk proteins
Replace some of the CLO with paprika
Add vecon

And if you only fish short sessions add a flavour 😉

The joy of making your own is the experimenting

Christian, i would myself keep the lamlac as it is, the milkprotein have became too expensive now! Even if you order 25 kg bag the price for the whey in France for exemple is a Little bit higher than 20€ per kilo !

For the Krill meal, 10% can be too much for certain type of krill and recipe and can make the bait float! (I had the case myself in the past… rolled 25 kg of bait and found them floating when i baited with them in a close margin )

I stay with 5% now if i use it, just for the peace of my mind

And depending on the CLO, 25% can make the past drying too fast and make it very stiff and a pain to roll.

Apart that it look good

I would use it, maybe with a few spices added and a low level quality flavour (or flavour blend of your own).

yes it looks fine as a starting point, it will catch
currently rolling something similar which has caught ( albeit on an easy water) from day one.

depending how it rolls..
replace some of the CLO with maize flour/ micronised maize meal- 10%
maize flour for a harder bait, micronised for a faster breakdown

forget the liquid liver, stick to 4%-5% powder
depending where you're ordering from- I've compared brewers v AA's Beta-Yeast and Brocacel.
25-30g of Brocacel

Thanks for all your feedback, I ended up doing:

25% LT94
10% squidmeal
5% liver powder
10% lamlac
15% CLO
12.5% soya
12.5 semo
5% wheatgerm
5% beta yeast

Done a 6 egg mix with

25ml liver
3ml scopex

Rolled a dream although prefer it to have a little more texture/crunce. Think next time I'll add either some help meal or supergold 60, in ppace of some of the soya and semo. Also the scopex isn't really noticeable at that level so will double it for 1 batch and drop it for another that will have garlic and fenugreek added to it aswell

Is that a 500g or a 1kg mix?
I’m guessing 500g, going by the liquid food levels.
If that’s the case, I don’t think I’d want to go much over 3ml Scopex per 500g personally. Guess it depends which Scopex it is and how much it washes out during the boiling process.

Think I’d also be trying to get some texture in there, like you say, drop the semo/soya down to 10% and get some crunchy kelp in there. I’d maybe even try and shoehorn some oyster shell grit in there for crunch and a bit of extra weight? Can you drop the wheat germ to facilitate that, or will it stop it rolling nicely?

A six egg mix? 300g+ liquids either a very sticky 1000g mix or a very dry 500g mix.
Or adding base until it stops sticking to everything and rolls well.
Trust me I've been there a few times
But then if it rolls really well and doesn't fall off the hair once in the water the job is 90% done.

I don't get the whole 'crunch' thing, unless the bait is bone dry and remains so then there is no crunch ie like a shell. ingredients absorb water and otherwise become soft.
Oystershell wrecks your tables and tbh I think the inclusion is more to do with adding cheap weight to balance lighter ingredients and increased baiting range.
Again maize products for weight- flour for density, maize meal/supergold for texture.
Carp like maize.

AA Baits kelp is a fine meal..rather pleased that it was because larger lumps can expand and split the bait. Again 'crunchy' when dry but still absorbs water.

Still don't see the point of liquid liver and 50g of powdered liver, virtually the same product but for different commercial production methods.
Just that you are paying for water.

I experimented with available liver powders, from 30g/kg to 80g/kg- actually ended up buying as much of the cheapest 'on sale' pork liver from AA before it went out of stock.
Smells like chocolate in the bag, prominent but very smooth in bait.

80g/kg for hookbaits and stringers only, 30-40 /kg for label/flavour (and cost) effectiveness..less can be more.
Very little need for flavour, a hint of maple/fenugreek

But personally I feel higher than 30g/kg in prebait/loose feed is going to go rancid in summer water temps after 24/36 hours, not friendly with silt.
Similar thoughts on wheatgerm, not saying that it doesn't have it's nutrient values but wheatgerm oils are prone to temperature sensitivity iirc old recipes used 1/2oz (3%) per pound. Similar floaty properties to krill.

6 egg mix and added base mix till consistency felt right as didn't want to with a sticky mix and nothing left to add to it lol. Ended up taking a touch over 600g of base mix.

Got no reasoning for the liver hydro other than I used it previously and done well....this seems a lot stinkier than I remember tho

Everything been bought from aa baits and tbh after drying the scopex does seem a bit more noticeable

Wheatgerm added as someone mentioned 25% clo might not roll well and I didn't wanna add too much extra soya and semo. Will try swapping it out for the SG60

Just about to pack up from a a little 4 hour session. Lost 2 (cos im crap and fished too close to snags) and landed a 16lber so I'd say it's deffo working

Boiled for only 75secs as only doing short sessions. Got a few in a bucket testing breakdown but will probably end up boiling slightly longer for pre baiting
Are you sure?
