Anyone made this swap. I prefer the way the fox beds have the zip on sleeping bags, but like the size of the solar bed. After opinions from anyone thats done the same. The solar bed is a little too hot for me come summer, and the fox beds has the 3-5 season bag with removable liner which is a massive plus for me

Unless it has been upgraded I wouldnt bother,uncomfortable and poorly made.The bag is very restrictive and no room at the foot end at all.

I believe they are a new range. I know the older ones were pretty small.
But the new ones measurements are pretty much the same as the standard solar sp c tech i have now

The build quality wont be as good as the solar bed but it does sound like its been improved alot

Not what your asking but if weights not a issue possibly consider the flatliner system from TFT, they can be had for good prices

Cheers mate. Had the flat liner x for a while, was too long and high, took up so much room in the bivvy, and I didn't find it much more comfortable than the solar, hence going back to it

Just in case anyone new is reading this, a short while ago I picked up a Camo Flatliner System from TFT's Ebay page for £370 which I thought was a great deal. I don't buy new bedchairs very often, last time was 10 years ago (unlike some :-P) so recently I've been advocating this purchase...to my cost

I used the Duralite for 2 years with pleasure, but it is indeed true that the sleeping bags, no matter how good they are, I had the 1/3 season and cover that the are limited in terms of inner size; for me it was still manageable 173cm, 76kg.

Since last year I have had the Flatliner, not the new model but the previous model with 6 legs (CBC094).

Simply top-notch, though quite a bit heavier (14.75kg) than the Duralite, but it lies so well. Although the Duralite lay well too for me, the Flatliner is definitely a serious step up.

I have had 14 bedchairs in the past 5 years. Regarding Solar, I have had all the Sp C-tech models except the one with Memory foam (new models) I cannot lie on Memory foam mattresses for 15 minutes (Flatliner/Duralite uses High Density foam). In terms of build quality, the Solars are better than the Duralite, but I cannot say that my Flatliner is of inferior quality compared to the Solar Sp C-tech. bedchairs

The Flatliner sleeping bags are the same as the Duralite ones (also 1/3/5 season) but larger; these are really top-notch sleeping bags


Edit: The 5-season sleeping bag is ridiculously warm, even for winter. With the 3-season and a cover, you're better off imo.

I assume the Duralite you had was the older model? I think the new ones are a bit bigger, pretty much the same size as the standard mk1 solar, which is perfect size wise for me.

I actually thought the fox flatlined x felt better quality than the solar one if I'm honest

@vossy, doesn't seem a big difference, but that extra 9cm and the extra height means it won't go back as far in the tempest 100, and was a really tight squeeze in the 100 brolly
