PENN AFFINITY III SPOD 8000 LONGCAST Or Daiwa 23 SuperSpod 45 SCW??

I have Penn affinity 7000s and love them but the spod version is 200g heavier than the daiwa one...

Any feedback or comparisons gratefully received thanks vm

I've got the 8000 spod reel. Not really noticed the weight tbh. It's really smooth and has definitely helped with casting.

My mate has the penn apod reel and it's a beast, really smooth as well. Id get that.

just watch the line clips on the penn, theure quite sharp when wrapping the braid round to clip up,just make sure its completely behind the clip before wrapping round

I bought one of the Penn 8000 spod reels without seeing it as I also have a set of Affinity 7000. It's well made, it's very smooth, but it is a big, heavy reel. The biggest lump of a reel I've ever put on a freshwater rod.

I didn't like it and moved it on. The 7000 are more than capable of being used for spodding so I just bought another one of those.

My advice would be try and see one before you buy.

The Daiwa Crosscast Spod reel is lighter, cheaper, and very smooth.

I was talking to someone in a well known reel upgrade shop last week and they said that the superspod is fairly terrible and they're getting lots back with gear problems, and aftet very short periods of time

Shame as the original daiwa spod was great

Ok thanks anyone know an alternative? I don't mind paying up as I've had my daiwa emblem for 20years
