Love them or hate them, but one dodgy shoulder means my casting is well past its “best before” date. Seen the lifters on the bay and looking at getting one. Does anyone have one and can recommend as a few out on the market?

I made a bait boat lifter years ago and there is no need to buy one.
Just get a brush handle, cut it down to about 4', buy a cheap coat hook, a double coat hook is better as it holds the boat level when you pick it up. You don;t need a swivelling hook, all you do is hook the boat, pull it towards you and lift it vertically
Just whittle an area flat at the end of the brush handle and screw or bolt the coat hook to it and jobs done. To make it look better, you could shrinktube it.
Other uses for it, you can mark the "Lifter" with measurements for the Width and Depth of your bivvy and also the distance which is the minimum you can place your rods in a tight swim in front of your bivvy to see if all fits. When you get to your swim, get it out of your holdhall and have a quick measure up and you will have an idea how to set everything up in no time instead of guessing.
Use it for slashing down nettles and ripping out briars etc which might rub against the bivvy and make holes.
Use it for ripping out reeds and weeds that is directly in front of your swim where your line might snag etc
A shop bought one would not be up slashing things down

I just use the the frame from a radiator roller and just bend up the last inch or so of the bit that goes in the sleeve.

Wondered what an X Boat is, wow £2,250.00 for a bait boat. I really am out of touch with modern angling, mind you bait boats are not allowed anywhere i fish.
