I've had a Primus fold flat toaster for over 10 years. Works a treat, the bread sits an inch of so above the flame.

I've had one of these for years - brilliant bit of kit. Apart from toast you can reheat anything from pies to pizzas to homemade frozen meals with the addition of a bit of tin foil. I've even grilled chicken on mine (just needs a good burn off afterwards).
