I'm trying to choose between these two because they seem to be reasonable casting braids but also sink.
The new fox submerge braid.
The avid outline.
I have previously used one braid for casting and one sinking but hoping to find a happy medium 🫣.

I'm in a similar boat.
No shockleaders on one lake I fish but can use braid straight through
So after some decent casting Braid that would take some long casts without snapping. Max 3.5oz lead, guessing I'd need braid to be around .28-.32 to withstand the casts
I've looked at the avid also and read good reviews, haven't seen much on the fox

I would check the Tackle Box line & braid test results, Avid braids BS is well below what is stated and the diameter much thicker than stated!

I've used the new Submerge Naturals in 45lb for a couple of years and found it really good for casting and sinking, I can hit about 140 yards with 12 foot rods and a rig attached, never found it wanting strength wise. Also used the Avid stuff before that which I never had any problems with. I found both sank well, Fox stuff a bit better for casting.

Not tried the Fox one. But Avid is the best all round braid I've used. Casts well for a sinking braid.
For casting 100m+ Fox braid all day long. Less than 100m Gardner Noir or slightly better in my opinion the Thinking Angler braid.
If I could only use one for everything it would be the Fox.

no the colour on the Fox braid fades to light grey very quickly. Personally I don't think line colour matters. The Noir line also fades as well.
I've had some Thinking Anglers braid on since about March which I use for boat work both here and abroad. The spools have probably done around 60nights so far and have hardly faded. This line also still seems to have some kind of shiny coat on it as well.

Limited to 110yds.
I also have the Berkeley black velvet that I have got about 3 seasons out of by turning around 😅 but is now discontinued, which is excellent for casting 0.20 but floats.
Tbf both of these braids keep there colour longer than most.
I was hoping to find something in the middle 0.30 that keeps its colour and sinks to a degree.

I'm currently using the Gardner noir distance sinking braid. I've found it to be absolutely brilliant. No fading as of yet, super thin at .27, sinks extremely well and I've had no probs with it whatsoever. I would definitely recommend it.

That's the one I'd be most interested in after using the standard Noir
Been fantastic the last 12 months. Reversed it recently to get the fresh braid to the top

I used this in the 25lb version and was impressed.
I was looking at a braid that sort of behaved like heavy mono (all i really wanted was the low stretch for feeling a drop and better contact during the fight) - ie i didnt need/want a super heavy braid that would sink like a brick).
The 25lb ticked all the boxes but was a bit thin for my liking/needs. I would go for the heavier version next time i think, which would suit my needs better.
have the 25lb TA braid on at the moment - no complaints so far. Again, i'm not looking to fish at massive distance. I suspect the fox would be better if longer range was important.

Having this season gone back to needing a casting/sinking braid, I was recommended the Avid Camo one and I have to say it ticks all the boxes, more so than the TA and Gardner ones, both of which I have used in the past.
