Just bought the tapered mainline by fox. Heard it's best to cut down the thicker part a little than what the line actually gives to improve casting otherwise becomes a struggle. Anyone any experience with this line?

No but I'd treat it like any other tapered leader . . .spool up, attach reel to the rod your going to use it on and assemble rod, ascertain the drop you prefer to cast with (eg to the spigot joint) and then ensure 3-5x spool revolutions of the thicker diameter are sitting nicely on your spool ready to cast. Some may say 3x this is not enough so maybe start with 5x and see how you get on - you can always chop another metre off if its affecting your cast. Certainly wouldn't go any lower than 3x as the thicker diameter needs to take the force of the cast / heavy lead etc . . .

Thanks for the info, just gone down to the lake to test it cast really well, certainly getting a better distance that I require, well pleased, so I'm gonna leave it for now. Cheers
