I'm trying to come up with a liver/yeast mix similar to JBs taste F2 , and I'm wondering if the biscuit meal AA sell would be a good addition at 20% ?
If not biscuit meal, what would you replace it with ? Don't want a fish meal
So far I've got ...
TA 🙂
Liver Yeast bait
CLO 200
Semolina 200
Biscuit meal 200
Whey protein 100
Brewers Yeast 100
Acid casein 50
Rennet Casein 50
Beef liver powder 50
Premium attract++ 50
Butter Cell GLM 30 mil
Liver Hydro 30 mil

With each ingredient within a mix, always ask yourself what exactly does it contribute. This could be nutrition, aroma, binding, texture etc. Looking at AA Bait's website, it's not even clear what this product actually is. It contains a " percentage " of biscuit meal, the type of which is not disclosed. With a protein content of 10.5 % and an oil content of 9%, it could well be digestive biscuits bulked out with a lower oil content cereal addition . Out of interest why no fishmeal ? I have included it at relatively low levels in many successful birdfood / nut mixes. It won't turn your bait into a fishmeal bait as such, but will be far better nutritionally that ground up biscuits ! If you are set on the biscuits, it's worth noting that it would be probably cheaper to actually buy fresh, human grade digestives from the likes of Aldi and then grind them down and mix in an equal quantity of Super Gold 60.

Your mix is very similar to a mix I have used successfully. My mix contained nut meals, 50/50 peanut and Tigernut but no biscuit meal. Perhaps of interest I have tried it with just tigernut meal and it was nowhere near as good without the peanut.

Why do you think that was Christian?

That is a good question and I don't really know the answer. If I was to speculate it was because of the oil content in the peanut meal which was just finely ground peanuts. I was using tigernut flour and although it has a lot of sugars it has nowhere near as much oil.

Interesting, I was going to go with either that or taste, I'm sure from memory the tiger nut flour/meal might have an off taste? Might have got that totally wrong and mixed?
Anyone tasted it?

Just had a google, looks like you could be right with regards the oil content.
Apparently Tiger Nut flour has a sweet creamy taste.

With the biscuit meal I was looking for the taste part of the mix , but on reflection there's probably better ingredients out there , the one I've been suggested is supergold 60 , which will definitely be better than the biscuit meal , I could put some PDFM in there , but wanted to stick with the liver/yeast theme , not sure why , I just did !

that's a lot of Brewers yeast. 10% seems very high - you could probably half that.
you could maybe switch the supergold 60 for straight maize/corn flour if you want to save on costs. I'm not sure what it adds to a miz that they don't?
I've become a firm believer in having some simple carbs in a bait for the bugs to work with so maybe add some molasses to the liquids.
are there any taste enhancers in there? a small amount of salt, MSG or even a product off the shelf with them all in - I really like Maggi Seasoning which has a great blend enhancers.

That's why I added the Vecon , basically as a taste enhancement, I could drop the yeast to 50grams but then I need another 50g of something else to make a kilo , although I'm not sure why folks round everything up to a kilo ? Used to be a 10 ounce mix
🤔

Just revisited your original post to see what exactly you are trying to do. Recreating any imitation of a commercial mix with so little information on the website is impossible. On JB' s description there's a few clues like yeast, umami and milk proteins. Strangely, on Johnson Ross it states cheese. It's also a mix that costs £ 15 a kilo and there's no need for bait to be so expensive. Just knock up a simpler mix that contains maybe up to 5 % of yeast ( Brocacel or Beta Yeast if you want ) , maybe 5 % of liver powder and perhaps 50 ml / kilo of a single hydro. Milk wise, I normally only include up to 5% of both WPC 80 and Skimmed Milk Powder.
The rest is up to you, semo, soya, birdfoods, fishmeal, nut meals etc. No need to be anal about FLAA ' s or such nonsense. I just work on the basis of a mix with around 35 % protein and between 5 and 10 % oil . Pile it in and fill your album 😁

I included the biscuit meal for what JB described as the Unami effect , but I've no idea if that's what he's using . I'll keep tinkering with it , but every time I think this should work I have doubts about an ingredient or the levels I've included it at .

I would have thought for umami you want things like cheese powders, tamari, seaweed, yeast extract, msg.
Closest thing to a biscuit I can think of with umami taste would be a prawn cracker!

In a video he did he referenced the crisps you get in a tube ( can't remember the name ) but that's where he got the idea from , so I assumed biscuits? = biscuit meal which have the same effect , can't stop eating them .
Might easier just to buy his base mix ? 🤔
