Was just flicking through AA baits website looking for ideas and a few ingredients reminded me of the BM1 so well talked about on here in years gone by.
Anyone still using it ? with any change or new ingredients ?
Considering it myself after a couple of years of messing about with different recipes, with success mind but costs seem to escalate with ideas

Looking at giving it a go this season just picked some tables up again and looking to do the season on it
Last season I used sticky krill but was hammering the bait at 6.50 to 8'per kilo offers depending it was an expensive do
So I thought I can use more bait for the same cost and a little effort
My question what needs adding extra wise powders hydros ect
And is it a better bait than krill

Nothing extra needed. A good proven bait, will always be a good bait in the right place.
Sometimes less is more. Stick to the recipe.
Otherwise you could disappear down an expensive liquid & powder rabbit hole

Just with Smurf saying he left things out so you can add to it that's all

By the time you start adding eggs, additives, plus the energy bills, you might not save all that much. When I roll my own, it's for fun, not because it really saves all that money.

In replacent for the (egg based birdfood like cede then .. meggabkend red or yellow or clo etc?
Are they all much of a muchness, any benefit or difference of one over another ?
Also been liking the beef liver powder, paprika, garlic and fenugreek powders in my mixes last year, any room for these or is it taking it too far ?

Use whichever bird food you like, I would never say one is better than another really. Some are sweeter (they have honey in) if you want that, some have higher oil content (clo) if you want that.
I would change equivite for 10-15g per kg of selenavite e now.
Don't see why a mix of liver powder and the three spices you mention wouldn't work very well in this mix
one of my current baits is a progression of bm1 with liver and a spice mix with a low level of a lovely smooth Lobster flavour, not fished it yet but will in the spring and I know it will catch fish

Thanks for your reply, good to know.
What kind of quants would be possible with the liver and spices ?
As the mix is almost maxed out to the percentage? Just up the % of the total mix?
I'd used 20% paprika, 10% liver powder, 2% garlic and 1% fenugreek in a successful mix last year, im not expecting to get that much liver and paprika in there though obviously

Garlic and fenugreek levels seem about right. Paprika and Liver I would start about about 5% each and see how you get on. You will need to drop the other ings a little each to squeeze this in.
You can no doubt use higher levels of paprika and liver if you really want to, it won't hurt to try. Ccertainly at these higher levels i suspect you will be much higher than any off the shelf bait so it could well work for you. When you find what works for you then just stick to it
