I'm wondering whether any more practical fixit members might be able to help me out
Some years ago I purchased a brand new Wychwood MHR HD Brolly, I think it is the mark 1, but it was never used (injury and work travel over the last 5 years means I've only done long trips - not small brolly sessions).
I've moved recently and about to join new syndicate close to home and its ideal for overnighters so I dug the MHR HD out from storage.
I put the brolly up for the first time and the central locking pole appears to have sheared some screws and come from the brolly central cup. Gutted - the MHR is literally brand new other than having been sat in a box for a few years.

I can't work out where that screw inside the pole has sheared from - there's no obvious screw holes in the cup on the brolly. There is that other screw going through the cup but that seems to be much fatter.
Wychwood (understandably given how long its been and a discontinued product) don't have any spares.

Looks like the pole was not fully inserted when it was assembled
Can't see any other reason why the new hole is right at the tip of the pole section.
I would just lock it back in and get another screw through the plastic and into the pole.

Looking at the poles on ribs its been damp and the plastic looks perished ?

Personally I'd remove the screw. Fit the pole up inside as far as possible and drill a 6mm hole straight through the plastic and pole and use an m6 bolt and nut.

Thanks Lads..... that's the approach.
Filled a bit of the cup with epoxy and then got two decent screws through the plastic and the pole. It feels solid but I think I'll leave it up in the garden for a few nights to test it before I get under it for a night.

Yeah, the pics seem to show that there's plenty of wear and scratches on the poles.
Weird. It's literally never been out of the bag unless the garage gnomes have been taking it for a few nights here and there. Maybe it's the camera just picking up some light detail or something.
