I've been looking about and fancy the Nash R3+. I would love the R4 for the drop back tone but can't justify the cost. Will I regret it ? Does the line settle in the centre of the Nash rollers and not like the Neville rollers get trapped down the side if you take your eye off it.

The problem was with the Steve Neville rollers as the line can slip off but the Nash looks ok !!

I've used nevs for years never had a problem with line slipping off.
If you mean you get a take and it's not registering due to the line not moving the roller put a bait band on it.

When I placed the rod on my nev,s the line is always a pain to get to stay on the roller, if I forget to check it can lie and stay down the side an not register a bite that's all they've always done it. I ve still got my optonics which never had a problem.

I've use the Nash R3's for a good few years and had no issues with them. As for not having a different time for drop backs, I cannot see what difference it would make, if I hear a tone, I would still look at my alarm and indicator and act accordingly, I don't react in any different way whether it's a "screamer" or a "drop back".
Now I love a new and have had loads throughout the years. Simple, uncomplicated, cult and beautiful. But forgetting the tart factor, the sirens are far superior, as are the mini microns and countless other alarms...

Have you considered the micron X? Has drop back tone and most of the features of the more expensive fox alarms.

I've looked at the mini microns, tempting the price is but I do like the way the Nash alarms support the rods at a high angle on single bank sticks plus I've just ordered some Slap Head bobbins so Nash it seems to be which ones not sure yet

I've had R3's for a good few years now and can't see me changing any time soon, they just work.

I've got the Nash Neville stainless steel alarms. I love em 👍
With third party companies like Kudos, Daletronics etc it's now possible to upgrade these to have all the new features of modern alarms - radio remote, adjustable tone, volume, vibrate, silent or activated heads etc plus underlit rollers. They are bombproof.
Plus they just look perfect 👍
Downsides are if you drop one on your foot you'll break it - your foot that is, and other anglers keep trying to buy them off you on the bank

I've owned alot of different ones and top end too.. Currently have sonik sks2. Honestly more reliable than some of the bigger brands I've had. Excellent range , change led, drop back differential, bivvy light, AAA batteries, Plus I think they look neat aswell . Less than 150 for 3 rod set plus bivvy light. Do yourself a favour and save the money . I had the micron x alarms which are in same bracket and the sks2 are better alarms IMO
