Does anyone own the cheaper of the solar spider bivvys? Just wondering how it measures up to the more expensive offering and other similar bivvys

I wrote a write up on it on here a while back. When it's up it is good, a lot of space and nice little features such as the condensation cap, internal pockets and clip for a light (not that I use it but good to have). There are negatives though. I still find it a pain to set up, far more faff than a tempest or a traditional brolly. You really do need the skull cap to avoid pooling around the central boss, and I find the skull cap fiddly to get on (again nowhere near as simple as the tempest). The material and features are better than the tempest, but I find it less easy to use, and as such, I have been using my Solar brolly far more than this bivvy. I can't compare to the more expensive version but if I was buying again I would be more tempted to go for the Fox Frontier

Pockets in these bivvies are all well and good until you get to your car and realise you put it away with your car keys left in a pocket (or your phone) seen it happen more than once 🤣🤣🤣

Thanks for that, it's currently a toss up between solar, fox and traker. One thing I want is quick set up as I hate spending time putting up a bivvy. How “blackout” would you say the SW material is compared to the frontier and tempest RS?

I've not seen the material on the RS so can't comment. With the skull cap it is very comparable to the Fox
