A slightly niche thread but hoping for some advice

I've had my 3 Penn Affinity 7000s for a couple of years and I love them. I respooled as usual recently and all of a sudden the line lay isn't even - fuller at the top of the spool.

Did a bit of research and seems I might need to do something with the washers. Not sure why as I've not changed anything.

Anyone got advice on this or had the same experience?

Sure you didn't drop any washers the last time you took the spools off? Have you swapped the spools from reel to reel? Sounds like you need to add more washers to me.

Quick update on this... found that if I put the line knot in the middle of the spool before starting then line lays much better. No idea why I changed but I must have done... anyway all is good now.

For info if you do need Penn reels servicing in the future - Quentin Millman is the chap. He's the official UK stockist of Penn spares, so he'll get you spare spools as well.

Yep I've got a call scheduled with him on Monday

Got to get a new bail arm and talk about servicing
