I've recently switched back to using my Cast'izm 25QDAs and whilst I love everything else about the reels the drag is a little fast for my liking at less than half a turn from freespool to locked up. I'd like to increase this out to a full turn to allow finer adjustment while playing fish.

Is anyone aware of a way to 'slow' a reel drag/increase the clicks from free spool to locked up?
I am wondering if simply swapping the drag cap with a whisker 25 or removing a drag washer would be an option.

Maybe, probably, not the answer for your reels, but i have some old daiwa yuge pits laying around where i had the same "problem". Turns out there is a coil in the reel cap and if you remove that the quick drag goes from half a turn to at least 3 turns (haven't used them for years). I experienced no downside whatsoever, still a perfect drag and a perfect free spool and much more pleasant to set the free spool.

Two ways putting a spring in a spool cap to replace bush ( this makes adjustment slower by spring compressing rather than fixed action of a bush if that makes sense?

or swap non compression (carbon or whatever they are made of) washers in spool for compression felt ones

Thanks both - I'll have a look at the spool caps to see if there is a spring and investigate what the drag washers are made of and look at potentially swapping one or more out.
