I'm going to france in a couple of weeks and wanting my mate to share some driving, he has his own van but going in my van, both our policies don't cover us to drive other vans.
Has anyone added other people or taken out temporary cover before in this situation?
Cheers

Not done it in a van but in a car yes, just ring your insurance company up and add a temporary driver. Naturally you'll probably need to know his claims history. Some insurers will charge just to make a amendment and then charge for the duration, check your policy wording

ONE VERY IMPORTANT THING TO CHECK WHEN TAKING YOUR MOTOR TO FRANCE !!!!!

LOTS and LOTS of insurance companies while saying your insured for driving abroad

DROP YOUR FULLY COMP to the minimum required in that country so often its JUST 3RD PARTY !!!! AND ITS NORMALLY IN THE SMALL PRINT WE DONT LOOK AT PROPERLY
so my advice to anyone is PHONE your insurance company and ask !!!
years ago I was with the Royal Sun Alliance and my Fully Com dropped and so I paid an addition think it was £10 back per trip !!
to make sure I had fully Com in France
since then More Than insurance was the same and I paid

I know of 2 people that have been to France AND HAD NO IDEA they were driving round with just 3rd party after hearing me talk about it and phoning their insurance company !
COST A PHONE CALL TO CHECK

Thanks, Yeah I had heard about some dropping to 3rd party, My mate tried a few temporary cover sites all of which were quoting over 100 pounds for the week 3rd party....
Anyway I phoned my insurance (admiral) and they confirmed it stays fully comp for both and added my mate for the week at 53 quid so got a result
