I've had a set of 6000's for a few years now but they definitely feel like they are coming to the end of their lives - bail arm springs, anti reverse, grinding etc.

I absolutely love them as a reel - weight, size, spool size, front drag, smooth drag etc & am deciding whether I want to buy another set or invest in something similar but better quality. Cost is not an issue if they are tough & will last years.

Is there much out there that's similar to these but better quality? I had 5000 xtb baby big pits which are probably as big as I want to go. Not interested in baitrunners - I like the bigger spools on smaller reel bodies.

I will have to buy via mail order & won't be able to try the reels beforehand.

Any suggestions?

Give them a clean up and basic service of internal part and they should come back to life.
I have done the same with many old daiwa emblems and they work like new.

If you don't mind tapered spools, the Penn Rival Longcast in size 6000 (I think) should be fine. Excellent reputation for building robust reels.

Extremely hard to get parts for okuma reels at the moment

Most rough reels just need the grit removing, a bit of grease and oil where appropriate, and all being well they will live again.

I recently got a new freespool 'clicker' from them for an old powerliner - couldn't have been easier. Dropped them an email, they sent a schematic back to clarify the part needed, it was with me two days later free of charge.
Couldn't have asked for more really.

Thats strange i just scrapped a powerliner because i couldnt get anywhere getting parts
