Excuse my ignorance, but why choose one over the other in your fishing? I'm about to go to France and instead of using maize I'm thinking of using sweetcorn. Are there are benefits to using one vs the other?

Maize stays on the hair better and normally works out cheaper. Think it's commonly used to fees fish in Europe too.

But if you aren't casting too far, corn all day long for me

reasons are cost with maize being much cheaper, convenience with sweetcorn being easier to use.

I use both for wild fish & there are days when carp deffo have a preference for one over the other.

if you are going with ready-prepared maize then the Dynamite stuff takes some beating IMO.
Are you sure?
